We said we wanted to Trade Pick 1 for an exceptional deal. We didn't get offered one, therefore we keep Pick 1, and draft the best 18 year old in Australia. If you're angry about getting a Bugatti instead two Holdens, then thank god you aren't in charge of list management at our football club.

It's disappointing, based on what we were HOPING for from GWS (clearly not forthcoming).

Looking at it realistically, we hit the pre-trade target of 3 picks inside 22. By the skin of our teeth though. By the absolute bare minimum. Fact is, we kept Armo and Steven but still managed 3 inside 22. Not a bad effort. We get the number 1 draft pick, a terrific opportunity.

I'm a little dissspointed, still. I would have loved to have fast-tracked by multiplying those picks (counting for the fact that 1 is gone).

Ahhhh well, it's over.

Got the target of 3 picks inside 20 (when you minus Heeney and Moore). Stood firm on an offer too good to refuse for pick 1 which never appeared on the table.

The reason I would have traded 1 is as follows

With all the aggressive talk on trading pick 1, to now say no to everything, means that the pressure on #1 is really high. We are effectively saying that 2 picks inside 10 isn't as good as whoever we take. Do you not think the impending CONSTANT comparisons between Petracca and whoever GWS take won't have an impact?

I'd rather be judged on the 2-3 players we would have gotten opposed to just the 1.

Because you could also claim that whoever you got at 4, was who you targeted at 1 and nobody would be any wiser - it's a win/win - at least for the sake of the mental state of the kids involved.
