FORMER Geelong player Matthew Egan is suing over the treatment of a foot injury that ended his career in 2007.

Egan filed a writ in the Supreme Court on Tuesday claiming damages and costs for alleged negligent treatment by Geelong doctor Chris Bradshaw and orthopedic surgeon Mark Blackney.

I find it incredibly hard to believe that the doctor/surgeon left Egan with any impression that he could start an aggressive rehab program less than a fortnight after the surgery that he had.

Can you sue someone from actions of your own doing? That seems a little rough to be honest.

In the USA, maybe. In Australia it would probably get thrown out. Unless the docs actually did something wrong you have to take some responsibility for your own health and wellbeing.

Supposedly the player will always want to play (or so says sando) but does the club have a duty of care to say to the player "enough is enough, time for a rest". There were stages where Porp was so injured he couldn't even protect himself.

My phone just went off because we have some updated injury information. Apparently VB is only 2-3 weeks away now

Scrolling down further a lot of clubs seem to have a lot of season ending injuries, but for most clubs this week is the last week of the season so any injury 1 week or longer is season ending.

Then saw Collingwood's injury list :
