Yes, but you are talking about equality. Some teams got to play GWS twice, where as some got to play them once. Thus the point is essentially the same that some teams got a few extra free games than others.
A port fan talking about first season GWS games being gimmes. Delicious.

I referred to Port as being in the same category as GCS and GWS in 2012. Feel free to be smug some more.

On our own board? You're giving us permission? Gee whillickers! Thanks so much!

Fact is, you've lost to both expansion sides (and were the first to lose to GC, LOL) Some teams haven't even lost to 1 of them yet and you've lost to both

Feeling Smug :straining:

Considering the Crows were arguably as bad as Port coming out of 2011, we should be smug about having not lost to either of them yet. You obviously rate us pretty high in that regard.

Exactly. The burden of proof is the balance of probabilities. It isn't a criminal case requiring beyond reasonable doubt, where the burden of proof is far higher.

And if you want a deal you don't 1. Play the victim 2. Slag off ASADA in the press 3. Refuse to acknowledge any wrongdoing 4. Take court action against ASADA.

The court case was about the legality of the investigation, and if Hird and Essendon had won, then all of the evidence gathered would have been inadmissable. That's what they were hoping for.

Now, having won the court case, I wouldn't be too confident that ASADA would be looking to "make a deal".

If Essendon wanted to make a deal they have gone down the wrong path...
Will be interesting to see the players' reaction if they are ultimately worse off due to the combative approach Essendon, hird & little have taken. Huge compensation payouts...

Clearly tanking in that period. Ollie Wines and Chad Wingard say hello.

Make no mistake, the loss of players, sponsors, gate and legal threats from all and sundry has the potential to end them forever.

I dont hate Essendon, but the sooner the number of Victorian teams reduce, the better for the competition.

Tassie Bombers?

Either way some sort of fiddling would have to be done. Port wouldn't even meet min payments if you took their combined 1 mil salary out of port's cap and I can't envisage Port being totally okay with the situation, especially in the case of Monfries where they had no forewarning.
Easy - renegotiate the contracts of your gun players with longer deals & front load them.

I think they'd have legal advice telling them it's open slather. The players will sue the EFC, Clubs like the WB and PAFC will have advice to do the same. I posted when all of this started that it has the potential to be the death of the EFC.

There is more to the EFC's lawsuits than thinking Hird is right, there is the survival instinct.

Sponsors will be running for the hills the moment the players are entered onto the registry. None of them will want to be associated with drug cheats.

They have a hell of a lot of pain coming to them. They deserve all of it. (EFC, not the players)

Yes, the likely cost to Essendon is going to be mind boggling. Will little feel guilty & personally bail out the club? If not Will the Afl? If not do we get a team from Tasmania? How will the true hird believers think then...

Are the banned drugs performance enhancing?

I know for Cuz there was an argument that the drugs he took should have impaired his performance.

This is not to say that the Bombers should be let off, but I am curious.

If we are going to embrace a truly national competition the holy grail of having teams from Tas, NT and ACT are the final frontier.

What I think you will find, is that the Dons will have to rebuild the ground up and make big changes on and off the field.

Is Watson's Brownlow a chance to be taken from him?

Would the players be successful in suing Essendon though? Their penalties will be for their own personal actions, not the clubs. You can lead a horse to water, etc.

Will be interesting if they try and the dons decide no more mr nice guy.
Given any significant sanctions will cost players earning capacity & some careers, I expect the aflpa will launch a huge class action on behalf of their members.

Yeah I get that, but will they be successful as the sanctions are for personal actions? The club lead them to water, the players drunk.

I think Essendon have been looking after the players as a priority so far. If faced with legal action by these same players, you expect the club to fight back.

Then we might start to hear that the program was player driven, that the players were always told of the risks, etc etc (just speculating).

If the players turn on the club, expect things to get nasty very quickly.

Given workcover are investigating a lack of duty of care. Eg an employer having a systematic program of injecting an employee with drugs not yet cleared as being fit for human consumption... Yes, there will be a huge class action!

The main instigator of all of this s##t remains silent and hasn't been called to answer anything. DANK. When is this weasel gonna squeal?
Why stay silent if you have nothing to hide...

I see your point but I think it's a little different to a workcover investigation.

And in a WHS review (don't know much about WorkCover) the employees/players can also be found culpable and liable for penalties, even if they're the ones who suffered injury or loss.
