When dissecting your structure, surely we can maybe operate like this; ?

Allows even easier reading IMHO

Maybe first number pertains to if the player is planned to be a keeper and not if they are 500k+. For the mids Ablett and Pendles have their own class...

Personally I have 5-0-5 but 4-0-6 looks really good now that I've had a read through here. 3-0-7 I like but I can't get myself to the stage of starting with just 3 premium midfielders. I'll be in tears before round 3.:p

It's a fair point but not all of those expensive mids will work out, no doubt you'll have an injury/vest/low scoring problem with one or two. The problem is if you take every single one of them + the cheaper ones mentioned you will have nowhere to go because you'e spent all this money on other lines and you'll have to double up trades just to move them on if they aren't working out. I think 406 is the only way. I think 6 is plenty of chances to earn money in the mids. It should also give you sufficient cover and only have to play one rookie (McD) on the ground if you are smart with your midpricers FWD & BK. Like Higgins for example toxic

Point taken.

Worst case scenario where you trade down to correct, as you mention, it at least it gives you time to scope out the right midpricers in def/fwd as opposed to starting blindly with them in the hope they work out. You could always correct yourself to switch to 406 before the first prices rises.

On the flip side, what if the same rookie mids fail in a 406. You would still double trade to correct using an already weaker def/fwd, yes?
We're only talking one player difference here.
Splitting the premo m4 money to solidify your d5/f5/r1 with by risking one more mid rookie isn't that crazy an idea. There's far more room for error/cover with rookie mids than any other position.

Like I said, I'm still undecided on which structure I choose but I think the 306 has merit.

Maybe my research sucks, I just dont see great value in the mid pricers under 350k that are available. I'm just nervous on risking guys like suckling, Webster, Shaw, Laidler, Rohan & co. for that extra premo mid.

I was more meaning the lay out of the post.

or

414 2305 112 224

which one is easier to read and understand?

How are people classifying their "mid-pricers", between $250k to $450k or what exactly?

A fallen premo then?
Beams, Franklin, Sandilands, Pavlich..
What about a rookie who costs more than 200? Still a rookie... albeit an expensive one.
My point is starting price alone has no indication on if the player will be good enough to be in your team by the end of the year..

Also keep in mind 90 average is good enough to be a top 12 forward this year.
Buddy is the only "fallen" premo in that lot. The rest are "injury affected" premo's. I don't class Buddy as a Premo any longer, do you??

There's a rookie and a rookie-priced player - there's a difference in my book. Tyson is not getting mentioned anywhere about the web as a rookie, yet he clearly is. All references are to rookie-priced players (Rohan as an example)

We're not arguing whether a player will be good enough to be in your team. Price is clearly irrelevant in that respect. We're talking about classifications.

have had 5 0 5 for ages now thinking 4 0 6, really not sure, feel like cash comes from 4 but might fall behind in rankings?

Not if you spend it wisely.

Doughnut central!

jiska hows this forward? Danger, Petrie, Martin, Wingard, Roughead, Walters... 1/0/9 midfield :drunk:
With the exception of Wingard, a great forward line, but not if you have to go with a 1/0/9 to achieve it.

I'm going with ablett and the rest rookies. I've never had the balls before but this year, I do :)
I see Tyson, Michie, Ellis, and polec in particular not necessarily rookies, but with rookie prices. This means my back 6 and fwd 6 are locked and loaded for the year. If I'm drowning in my tears come round 3, so be it lol.

A lot of sides I see are either 406 or 505 midfield, so it's a bit of a jump to go to a 109 or 208 structure,

Perhaps the 'middle ground' of 307 or 217 might be worth considering, which basically becomes a hybrid of what most are doing and what you are thinking of doing,

If your midfield-lite strategy doesn't work out, your not that far behind that a few correctional trades can't fix,

Yet, could be just enough in front to give you an edge, if all goes to plan,

Good luck, :thumbsu:
