When you think about how much the bulldogs are paying Boyd and that he may never come good/get injured etc - it makes feel even better about getting Schache. I'm assuming his wage for the first few years will be a tad less than 1m

To begin with maybe, but the Dogs single-handedly changed expectations of what a prospect KPF can demand. Maybe not for the first two years, but we'll all pay up soon enough.

My kingdom for a medium forward (and my pug) like ... Jake Springer or that kid from the Hawks or Please, Please Me, a Micky Conlan clone, faster than a speeding Ablett, more powerful than a Lethal Leigh. They are ready to go, no development delays, just unwrap and add batteries.

He'll likely get a decent pay rise in year 3 - will be a lot of clubs after him.

The club will prob be into him for an improved contract pretty early on. We tried to do it with Aish i think and most of the other lads from that draft year signed longer deals in their first year. I think he will find himself on a pretty good wicket very quickly

Pick #2 is ours! Now just gotta hope Carlton let Schache slip!

Not comfortable with how openly the club continues to talk about Schache. Still a lot of water to go under the bridge before the draft. We could be left bitterly disappointed if he ends up elsewhere. Similarly, if there's some AFL agreement in place that Schache comes to us as has been speculated then the league's just plain dodgy.

I think it's probably pretty well stated/accepted that Weitering is going to be taken by Carlton. Everything I read puts him as the standout player from this draft. Given Brisbane have the 2nd pick and they need a forward, then discussing taking the best forward in the draft isn't a bad thing. It's giving hope to a very demoralized supporter base.

Weitering is clearly the best player in the draft. If Carlton take Schache on account of us flagging our intentions, then it's their loss. We'll take Weitering at 2 and back our club in to keep him.

Yeah getting 3 and taking francis would be the icing on the cake scahce, francis, keyes, hipwood ( if aish leaves we demand first rounder for next year and suckling or whitecross this year. Its supposedly deep midfield draft next year and allows us to get allison and another quality mid.

If Freo gets smacked in this second half; a 4 year 500K+ deal is a sure thing for Leuey
Sandilands struggling against the Hawks rubbish rucks. He is finished. Berger would be the best FA ruck to come around for a few years IMO so may as well grab him on the cheap. Won't be surprised if Sandi either retires or pushed out at the end of the year.

Sandilands has enjoyed a ridiculous physical advantage his whole career yet he can never be described as a clear top/consistent ruck.

Sandilands is contracted until 2016 so would be a big call by either party.

No for Leuey to land us pick 3 (dreaming) so we can take Francis as well

This is absolutely pure speculation, but I wonder if Kruezer,s re-signing open the door for the AFL to "reject" our priority pick application, but assign a compensation pick as Band 1. (E.g. Pick 3)

Having said that I'm realistically expecting Pick 19.

I think GCS have elected to activate an end of first round compensation pick which possibly would go first?

Pav retiring at years end will free up some cap space to offer $550k+ to berger to snatch him from Swans, Bombers, Dogs etc... Oh, why hello band 1 compo.... :D

Got this strange optimism of us getting Pick 3....am bracing for disappointment and excitement

5 hours ago I'd have laughed at this. But now I'm almost certain a deal has been cooked up. It's what they do.

Yeah I can't see that happening. After all the controversy over the Frawley compo, surely they couldn't make the same mistake twice?!? Then again... this is the AFL we're talking about so anything is possible!
