I said the pick would go towards Clurey - any pick that we got back as part of the deal could go towards securing Mills. The truth is that under the current trade sanctions, we are only able to bring in average defenders, and I think that Clurey has shown enough to suggest that he could become a good defender.

Anyway, we can agree to disagree.

My view is always that you never overpay, your list suffers both short and long term. The one I'd be enquiring about (and for the record I don't know his injury status) is Lachie Plowman (GWS), that is someone we could get for a throwaway pick as GWS are trying to reduce their list or even Corr who seems to be behind Davis, etc. I would rather go after some defenders who come reasonably cheap.

Mills + Dunkley for our first 3 picks plus change in 2016, and a youngish defender late, or even a VFL/SANFL mature defender.

Yep agree to disagree.

The 'Swans salary cap is bursting' threads in which they suggest open season on players has already started.

Hoping it would've started at least after the bye
No reason we can't do a Hawthorn and have our players willing to take cuts for success.

Pretty sure all of Hodge, Mitchell, Roughead, Lake, Gibson, Gunston and Lewis are all on a total of 75K

I think salary cap space is irrelevant in these days of FA nothing we can do if a bottom 4 club say offers Hanners or Parker 900k+ for 5 years.

The state of our list we wont be able to match it anyways.

Except wait until 2018 for Parker to be a RFA :p

lol Tippett is out of contract end of next year and he is a gazillion dollars according to these same types of people

Good hope it stays that way.

Perfect, us as the underdogs play much better than as raging hot favourites...funny that our best 2 matches were against Port and Hawthorn...both games we were underdogs lol

What did being the best team in the home and away season give us? absolutely nothing when it mattered.

You have to beat the best sides in September if you want the flag anyways.

I agree, but I'm more happier if we are not expected to flog teams, we just play so much better.

Is Freo really that good or isn it just Fyfe that is good?

Midfield bats deep and they have AA's in the backline but I still maintain their depth is a bit 50/50. Midfield is elite- Fyfe, Barlow, Hill (will be AA this season), Neale, Mundy, plus the giant Sandilands.

They are good.

Fyfe covers up for a lot of crap

They have some fragile september people

But this is their chance to win still, especially last roll with pav and sandilands

They have minimal injuries a soft draw they only play Sydney, Hawthorn once.

A number of their players are having career best seasons Fyfe!, Pearce, Neale, Sandilands, Walters.

If they don't win it this year then they never will with this group, but yes they fully deserve their 9-0 start they have beaten(blown away) most teams they have faced.

Not really makes a huge difference to ladder positions come round 23.

It can help but the further we go it gets to the point where sides that are winning are probably just good

So apparently we're not the AFL love children the rest of the comp think we are. West coast get a bigger free kick advantage than anyone else in the comp - by miles. We sit in the middle of the pack.

WEST Coast is the most protected team in the AFL.

The Eagles have won a staggering 349 more free kicks than they have conceded in the past five years — a differential three times bigger than their nearest rival.

But it’s at Subiaco, at the aptly nicknamed “House of Pain”, where West Coast gets the biggest advantage from whistleblowers.

Since the start of 2011, the Eagles have lost the free kick count in only four of 46 matches on home soil against interstate sides — a success rate of 91 per cent.

Incredibly, West Coast is also one of only two clubs to win more free kicks than it loses on the road, where it boasts a +63 free kick differential. Carlton (+8) is the only other club to win more frees than it has given away in interstate games since 2011.

Always thought the Eagles were getting a ride at home but damn, that's insane

Lockett is in the room tonight and he doesn't travel without reason.
Yep. Saw him in the background and got very excited, then I heard that each of the nominees will be having a bit to say on the winner:( Would have been churlish of him not to attend if that's the plan.
