The problem for me is for him to make enough coin to offset starting a rookie, he pretty much has to reach premo status any.

I really want him in my side because he has burnt me before (when I picked him to break out in 2013), and I just feel he owes me. But i'm still a little tender, not sure if I can go through the hurt again.
There's no place for sentiments, obligations or nostalgia in SC. Need to forget the past and let sleeping dogs lie. I always think you need to like your team but I also find that it changes the way you watch football and I don't like it. I can watch 4 quarters of footy now and pretty much tell you each players DT/SC scores at the end but still not know who actually won the game!

supercoach gold is for (assistant coach's ) who have little clue of what to do on their own..why would you let a computer data pick 4 you .. waste of time? or maybe you save time on thinking..lol

True true, but I cant forget the past. If we dont understand our history we are doomed to repeat it, although i'm pretty sure that still means I should have Rich :p

Somewhat odd question - has anyone had any experience keeping up with SC while travelling? There's a good chance I'll be doing a big RTW backpacking trip later in the year - obviously I'm not going to do anything to jeopardise the experience in any way for something so trivial, but I might try just putting in a cheeky 20m a week after teams come in.

A decent amount of planning pre-season, no intricate loopholing, maybe SC Gold to have it at my fingertips...anything else?

Course there's a good chance I'll come to my senses and forget about it once I board the plane :D

It's hard.

My company sent me overseas to set up some offices in South East Asian 18 months ago, and as a result of constant travelling I was non-existent on these boards last year, and my SC team suffered for it. Everything became a gut choice rather than an educated one.

It can be done, but it's not as easy especially if you take it seriously.

Are you talking about auto-select?

Gold's not bad, gives you easy access to break evens, etc.

fodzilla might be able to help with some pointers. Pretty sure he did a big trip last year to a lot of remote places like North Korea, Syria, Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Somalia - hey, what were you doing on that trip?

Thanks guys. Yes, I'm expecting a lot of gut choices, but that might not be such a bad thing given the amount of time I spent on it last year :P. Chewing gum for the brain. It's just a shame, last year was my first one, and I was really looking forward to reaching tragic level this year. Even got a nice little footywire scraper/analyser going as a project to teach myself Python, might have to donate it to the board instead. ;)

I think you should see if you can find someone you trust to keep an eye on your team for you in case you don't get coverage near lock out times or are otherwise engaged. We looked after Fod's team for a little and he would give us notification if he was away and runs few scenarios and trade targets. Is definitely harder now with rolling lockouts and late outs but he managed well.

I was in Israel the year before for a few weeks and had no real issues as had internet the whole time. Just be prepared I guess.

Yep, just forget rolling lockout exists, or that you need to read Bigfooty for three hours to decide who gets benched. Make time every Thursday morning (or whichever time zone you're in) to check the teams, pick captains and make any trades, then cross your fingers. The only legitimately difficult times are when you have zero internet for an extended period, but if you can rope someone else in to check your team on occasion that's not such a big deal. Reversible trades are very helpful too, as you can quickly set things up early in a week, then come back to it later if you have time.

Alternately you can just not give a shit about it, but I managed to keep mine going, scrape in to ~1500ish and help SCE2 take out the league title.

Outstanding. Thanks fod, sound advice.

I had an idea for a new rule, just wondering on people's opinions.... I have been doing SC for about 7 years now, and I have found it to be easier for the uneducated. With all the SC chatter in the media (herald sun) ,rookie tips, bargain buys, strong preseasons etc. I myself don't like this, as every man and his dog pick that "secret gun" that you thought no one knew about...But the thing I hate the most his the increased trades, I liked it when it was just 20, yes everyone gets trade happy, and it's a little addictive, but conserving trades was a way to get a real edge. Now lets hope they never go down Dream Teams path if 2 trades every week, but with the current 30 comes my proposed idea.....
30 trades throughout the season, including finals, with the standard 2 trades max each week, 3 in a split round... But come finals, with those smart enough to conserve, any trades you have left, you can use at your own discretion...
Imagine going into a finals series with say, 12 trades, I might use only a couple in the first 2 weeks due to a week opponent, but come the prelim and GF I might use 5 trades in each game.
Especially when clubs are so often resting guns in those last couple of weeks, or just simply replacing out of form players, often 2 trades is not enough,. Sometimes with just 2, you use them and you still get 3 or 4 doughnuts......
Anyway, just wondering what people think

If i ever had trades left for finals it'd mean I'd have had no Internet for 3 months.

I'd prefer free range in the first few weeks to correct the copious mistakes I'm undoubtedly going to make.

Think it's fine the way it is, 30 is probably too many trades but people seem to be spooked by what happened at the end of this year with a lot of the popular players being injured/rested/suspended. Doubt there will be a case as serious as last season this year, it was just really unlucky.
If your that worried about players that are often rested come finals time i.e. Bartel, don't get them.

I did it around OZ this year in my first year of SC and ended up in the top 10%, was really difficult but if you are committed you can do it. Around the world though could mean some serious work in internet cafes and some wifi research.

30 is 10 too many imo however I probably say that considering I finished just outside top 100 the two seasons where the trades were limited to 20. 30 trades is too forgiving.

Anybody else missing the supercoach gold team builder now when they log in to supercoach? Maybe their getting ready to go live for the public
