You don't know that his attitude is poor or that he is influenced by the culture of the club. Players make mistakes as these three have. The potential upside of Bennel would far outweigh the negatives in my opinion. I see a lot of Morabito in the way he moves.

Whether he is influenced by the culture of the club, or whether it's his own attitude - the decision is his alone to make in how he chooses to act. In the end, it was the playing group that established the rules, and he broke them. Trade talk wouldn't usually surface on a single mistake though - so i'm inferring that there's more to it

As you say though - he's got talent to burn, and would have a lot of upside.

There would be a few clubs monitoring how his year pans out. He may move like Morabito, but if he ends up behaving like Dayle Garlett, then no one will touch him.

The club needs to make recruiting decisions with character a major factor. Doesn't mean that you recruit angels and good samaritans. But a long contract on a high salary for another player who turns into a bust for whatever reason is something we do not need.

Loved it. You can tell his heart is in Lake Grace. Seeing the way he talks about the trucks and farm, I think he would find it hard to move out of WA.

Try clicking the play button then once the audio starts tap your finger on the timeline in an area roughly three quarters of the way through. You can't actually forward to a specific time as such.

Frustrates me to no end. These so called football shows spend 90% every week talking about the basket cases (Carlton, Richmond, Brisbane) and off-field football issues rather than actually appraising the teams that are performing and have a chance to contend for the flag.

Keep in mind that it is round 6. Early in the season it is the teams that do poorer than expected that get the attention, because they have dashed the hopes of their supporters. Top teams get their time in the media in the second half of the season, once everyone has gotten used to the shit teams being shit. They certainly won't be talked about come September.

I think we need to just relax a bit, Freo are getting a lot of attention, are we spoiled brats that need to be talked about as gods all the time? We know we're good, they know we're good, there aren't many issues going on, so once they say, Freo were fantastic, what more is there to say? The controversy is elsewhere at the moment.

Not sure where to put this, but I just wanted to note Bennell being on the outer at GC again.

Admittedly he's been on the wrong end of some disciplinary issues, but he's an amazing talent when he's on and is a bloody good size for a mid. Would love to snare him if he walked out on the Suns. Anyone got the inside word on who he supported as a youngster? No doubt the Weags would have a crack at anything with leg speed in the next trade period, but it'd be good if he was automatically aligned to us.

If he leaves, it would surely be to go to West Coast.

Rumoured attitude issues aside, a couple of players like him would transform them into a very dangerous proposition and break their current policy of #infinitemastens.

Personally I would be very cautious about bringing him in to our side. All the talk about it being good for him to be out of WA and away from some bad influences that he had here are not encouraging. Other snippets make me wonder if he would be capable of aligning himself with the kind of regime and discipline that our team is flourishing under.

having said that, I love watching him play.
