I wouldn't pat 60 cents a week

They charge initially $1 a month, which is fine and I would pay that. But definitely no more than that.

FFS $6 per week, you can get foxtel for that. The thought that I pay more than $1 for a Rucci article makes my stomach squirm.

THE PROMISE of an extra $1.5 million in 2015 from a revised Adelaide Oval deal hasn't completely softened the blow of Port Adelaide's $2.5 million loss in 2014.

Such a shame. :(

Port should be afraid, very afraid should they have a bad season or two in a row. Hell even a mid season slump last year had crowd numbers down. Their fair-weather supporters when tested in 2011 proved exactly how fickle they can be. In fact I have always believed that since Hinkley took over they have managed to secure a lot of somewhat neutral fans that tend to support a team on the rise and hip. These neutral fans have over inflated their popularity and supporter base.

This is actually nothing new with Port Adelaide. How many of us have known people growing up who love port adelaide... because they win flags.

The problem with that is, what happens when you aren't winning flags? All of a sudden they aren't there.

Even the most diehard Port supporter would acknowledge that over the years they have attracted a lot of these types, you're going to if you win that many flags, this mentality exists today. They will drop off, they have dropped off before and it will happen again.

Don't expect Port to drop off for a while yet, they will be right up there this year with the best in the league.

Injuries might have an impact, but they look to be building to me ... not dropping off.

PS - I'd put money on Ollie Wines to win Port's B&F and have a real crack at the Brownlow, if I was a betting man - which I'm not :)

That article is just spin, a $2.5M loss batted away with an extra $1.5M to come from AO and extra $2M on football department spend. That's fine if they plan on reducing their football department spend and I'm sure Voss gave up a lucrative media gig to work as a volunteer

And you've got to laugh, apparently Vossy addressed the players in Dubai and Boak said to Hinkley that they wouldn't have got that out of Walsh. Now let's see how much Voss contributes to their match day coaching. w***ers.

Port will be one of the dominant teams of the competition in the next 5-7 years. They should win at least 1 premiership during this period. With on field success the money should roll in unless they are completely useless at managing their finances.

I would happily suffer a few seasons of tarps and ridicule that comes with it if it meant you could have a list like Ports. They will be the number 1 show in town both on and off the field. I expect in 7 years they will have more supporters that the AFC. In time we will realise just how disasterous the Trigg, Chapman, Reid and to a lesser extent Craig reigns were for the AFC.

My thoughts exactly.

In the SANFL, Port could indeed "exist to win premierships" but due to the AFL's cyclical nature through the draft where being shit is rewarded with elite young talent (a big part of the reason they're good now anyway), that kind of dominance just won't happen. It might be a number of years away (unfortunately for us) but there will come a time where they are have to put up with being crap again. That will be a big test for their supporters.

While I think you very well could be right (particularly your last sentence!!) and Port are a very strong chance to jag a flag or two in the next few years, to be fair, the bolded part was exactly what was said about Collingwood's very young premierships side of 2010. Everyone predicted they would be a dynasty for years to come at the time. A lot can happen between now and then.

Nup. SANFL's fault for the loss. If they get back to profitability, that will be due to the Creed. Then when they cycle back down the ladder and their people disappear in hordes again, it will be the SANFL's fault again.

He probably told them an inspiring story about trading for Fev.

You are a Port supporter, right?

Kochie on AA this morning he is the master of talking a lot whilst saying little.

Kim Dillon asks a question about the new deal being sustainable if the crowds do drop off. A reasonable question given Koch had just said that the deal was to last for the next 20 years.

Koch "answers" by talking about how they will have nearly 60,000 members this year 30k being 11 game members and that corporate support is expected to increase. Totally dodged the part about what happens if membership drops along with attendances within the next twenty years.

Not many teams that get length of domination now-a-days Mike ... 5-7 years is a long time. I think they will be a good team next year, but nothing is written in stone. Lots of examples of teams that "were going to win a premiership" that have ended up with nothing to show (AFC 2005 / 2006 springs to mind).

The mega-anti-AFC stuff is a little bit of of a stretch for me, I don't see us as being basket cases OR unable to move past the recent problems we have endured. I think we are heading in the right direction with our list and our staff.

Nothing in the AFL is so easy to predict - even the next 12 months will throw up some good and bad scenarios that NO-ONE will pick for - both Port and AFC.

With the AFC 2005/06 team though we lacked a truly good forward that could do damage.

Port on the other hand have IMO the perfect team and are covered in every position on the ground.

There is huge number of variables that can determine success or failure, I would back Port in dominating the comp for the next 5 years comfortably. Hawks have too many players on the wrong side of 30, Sydney will be hurt by the Buddy and Tippett recruits for mismanaging their list, North again have an aging list ditto Geelong. Ports list is the best in this regard, probably a query over replacing Schultz.
