Also, I'd kill for a Hartlett type in our midfield. None of our "gun" mids are capable of lacing out a leading forward, let alone kick a goal from > 55m.

Brodie Smith can lace out and kick goals from 55m, lets hope he is full time in the midfield this year

Definately I thought I heard something like a 'pop' - I was only 10 or so metres away from him, it was certainly a terrible thing to witness though...

Yeah good point. Both paddy and smith can definitely do this. We havent seen it yet, but I reckon that b crouch has it in him.

Re the new F/S system, its actually a better system (assuming they get the formula right). F/S should be about protecting a legacy and making sure a player gets to his dad's club, not getting ridiculous bargains.

Its just annoying we won't finally get to share in the ridiculous leg ups some sides have enjoyed in recent years after getting rorted for so long.

I'd like to see Atkins get a try in that HBF role. I'm not sure if he is really 'pacey' but he is able to find space and he has a good kick on him.
Makes us less predictable with the left foot too, coming out of the backlines.

I'm sure even the AFL wouldn't have changed it retrospectively, but there would have been hell to pay.

Notwithstanding the F/S rules for us being so restrictive, but they may have overhauled the entire system back then.

I do like the idea of paying more to take the players so they're not as much of a free kick, i just worry if two good F/S picks come up at the same time - though I did see trading of future draft picks in there, so that'll come in handy.

The thing with F/S is that it is supposed to be about the feel-good concept of "Little X running around in the jumper Big X played in"...but all that goes away if little X is only an average player.

Clubs want F/S just to get guaranteed access to good players.

I reckon make the system so that if a club passes on an eligible player who is picked up by another club (hence is AFL worthy), they then have to pay extra in the future when they do take a F/S. Would fit well into the new points system.

If you post on their shitty board, Ford Festiva will take you out, so whats the point. Im happy for Port posters to come on here and comment. But they MUST comment respectfully or GTFO. We only turn on them because they throw stones at us and run and hide behind their Ford Festiva.

As we all know, nothing works as well in the AFL as an overly complicated points system that requires a lawyer or auditor to understand.

It is insulting to think we have to pay the price for a F/S selection after not having one for years while Clubs like the Cats, Pies and Hawks have enjoyed this without a penalty.

At least our first 3 F/S picks should be awarded without any penalty.

Im just throwing it out there. Maybe our first two f/s should come without any penalty. If Fages or the AFC had any balls they would argue that 25 years+ without a single f/s is poor. Its obvious the f/s SANFL situation was a joke.

As much as I hate the Cornes brothers - they should have played for the AFC as an example

Yeah it looked horrible..

worst part, I think, was the look that he had.... "That's it..." he's mid 40s and he probably wont be able to play footy again... atleast not for a long time anyway...

Not cheering, but I want to see their depth tested to see how good they are like when we lost players all over the place in the past two seasons.

Hawks proved they have the depth, quality and systems in place to take any hit. They lost, players and a coach during the season and yet walked in to an easy flag in the GF. Not to mention that was without their best forward in 2013 that went to Shitney.

Not really, but few conversations between Us and Them (BigFooty or not) usually end up in a West Horsham shitfight. And yes, our board is far more accommodating (read realistic) about criticism. Head over to the PAPs board and they deal out red cards quicker than a FIFA referee on the take.

The insecurity fascinates me. For a club that says 'we want to be hated' they sure whinge pretty quick when they are.

There are genuine chips on the shoulder about pretty much everyone. (Exhibit A: the recent posts about the Strikers breaking their attendance record, which ranged from 'I'm glad the Strikers got belted so those people who broke our record got to see a shit game of cricket' through to conspiracy theories that everyone's out to get them by fudging the stadium numbers).
