Vickery has played 87 games more than matthew smith

These arguments are so logically flawed it's not funny

you do realise that literally every footballer ever, who didn't receive a career ending injury, has improved with experience?

Hi fellow South Australian Footy Fans, my Footy fanatical wife has created an all female Fantasy League and invites as many Females as possible to join and show the guys how good an all Female League can be. We live in Victoria but are expat South Australians and would love to have some SA females join my Wife's League and have a bit of fun. Invite Code is: X7KT96T3

Why would Vickery have more upside? He would have played more games and have more football experience than Jenkins.

Its a mental issue with Vickery. Just cannot get any consistency across games, or even across a full game of football. Just think if he can pull it together he will be special.

Vickery has played nearly 40 more games than Jenkins. I would bet the next 40 games from Jenkins will be better than the last 40.

I hope so. Still think Vickery has more left in him.

Funny how so many people heap shit on Richmond. Finished top 8 last two years (5th and 8th). Have beaten us 4 out of the last 5 games.

Their list is in pretty decent shape actually and on the surface looks similar to ours. They have a solid midfield led by Maric wth Cotch, Martin, Lids, and Edwards. They have a premier forward in Riewoldt and a solid #2 KPF in Vickery. They have a young All Australian key defender in Rance. They have a fantastic rebounding defender in Ellis. Only Maric and Chaplin are over 28. They also have a bunch of top 15 draft picks that are yet to really establish themselves as quality players - Corey Ellis, Ben Lennon, Nick Vlaustin and even Reece Conca (still only 22). Anthony Miles will also be a gun.

In my opinion - Their list is very similar to ours.

Before you bash Vickery too heavily. Compare his stats to Josh Jenkins over the past 2 years on a per game basis. I would take Vickery over Jenkins in a heartbeat purely due to the fact he is a better ruckman and a much marking option inside 50.
There's other teams in the eight that will slide before Richmond. They are very similar. The question is can Dimma get the best out of them? They also suffer from similar consistency issues.

Absolutely. They most certainly have list issues - especially firepower up forward.
Their backline and midfield brigade gelled after they tweaked their gameplan. Their forward line wasn't as potent as others for sure. I also note a lot of games they played on that run into the finals were wet days or nights and consider them wet weather specialists.

Graham Cornes to coach the SA State Team. Bewildering appointment. No young coaches who could do it?
A Prince Phillip appointment?;)

He'll either win and be a messiah, or lose and be a has-been.

Speaking of which, here's a photo of him at the first state squad training session:

Vickery debuted in 2009 - 6 years playing since debut.......... Jenkins Debuted in 2012, he has been on a steep learning curve. I'd be putting my money on Jenkins to show more improvement entering his 4th season since debut.

I'd rather not players that have mental issues which stop them reaching their potential (- ie Smack -) if you spend pick 8 on a player you want them to be an out and out gun.

Fair enough. As I stated above - their production over the past 2 years has been pretty similar. I would just prefer Vickery as I think he would compliment our side better. This is based on his much better ruckwork and the fact I think he is a better mark.

I'd rather not players that have mental issues which stop them reaching their potential (- ie Smack -)

The issue though is that even without getting the mental aspect of his game together - he is still producing on par with Jenkins. Thats my point. Imagine if he gets it together - he will become an huge asset to that side. Even if he doesn't he is still good enough to be best 22 and contribute.

He is something all together different to a player like Smack.

if you spend pick 8 on a player you want them to be an out and out gun.

And here we come to the crux of the real issue of Vickery. His draft position is completely irrelevant now that he has played 80+ games and been on an AFL list.
