I'm not a fan of Judo, too much grabbing for my tastes.

The Olympic sport I find the worst is Dressage. I mean, it's bad enough that there's very little athleticism involved but to make things worse the horse is doing most of the work!

edit: I should have wrote "almost no athleticism involved"

Judo is not for me as I'm 6'7", but I like to watch it at the Olympics. The taekwondo bores me as they have no guard and don't use their arms for blocking or punching, it's all about point scoring with flashy spinning kicks.

I have to agree with you on Dressage, synchronised swimming is up there in the boring Olympic sports too.

From what my mate said it was just that he hated the GC. Didn't have any friends and spent most of his free time on Skype talking with his friends and family back here. Assumption is he'll go back to Elizabeth, but if he wants to continue to play AFL as long as he's based in Adelaide I think he could be a good pick.
Elizabeth vs the GC, hmmmm...

Is it still just a 4 day training course or is it more difficult to get certified these days?
I'm not sure what happens today. I did the four day initial qualification over two weekends back in the early 90s, then went into it in more depth within psychology at uni. Fascinating stuff.

Guilty of providing info to us that allowed them a four goal head start.

It should be us who are unhappy. If you're going to be a traitor to your club at least understand the game plan and the information you are peddling.

Never would have come out if Cheney hadn't spilled the beans to Stratton.

AFL players can sidestep illicit drugs tests while battling mental health issues under new drugs code

AFL players will still be able to secretly sidestep illicit drug tests while battling mental health issues under the league’s new policy.

But the AFL is adamant the rule is not being abused and is open to only a handful of players battling serious medical or mental health issues.

The player is not eligible to play football while outside the illicit drugs testing regimen and can be spared testing only for a short period of time.

The little-known clause was confirmed by former AFL boss Andrew Demetriou in 2013, allowing players time to recover from their issues.

The player is banned from continuing to play football while being spared testing, resuming urine tests before they return to the game.

It has been confirmed that rule is still in place under the new code, which moves to a two-strikes policy.

Would explain a lot if Buddy Franklin's mental health issue is a drug addiction.

So... The "Buddy" rule?

I still don't believe the AFL will fully endorsing this rule. I think we may start seeing some interesting 4 week injuries occurring and no name ever released.

They will still sweep it under the carpet.

Does anyone know if Buddy has been driving his car since this has been announced?

As far as I know, those who are in the process of getting diagnosed for epilepsy, they have their drivers licence cancelled for 6 months until a correct dosage of medication can be applied.

If he has been driving - I don't belive the epilepsy story and I'm not buying the depression* story either

*depression is a very real and every day illness for anyone and everyone. I'm not saying it doesn't exist, I'm saying I don't believe he had depression. I beleive he has an issue with a white powder substance and the AFL are sweeping it under the carpet.

That's my take on it too. Though I don't dismiss the fact that you might suffer depression as a result of a drug addiction.

yep you guys on bigfooty know exactly what is going on with Franklin - psyhic mind readers the lot of you -

i don't give a one slightest damn if AFL players snort coke or drop pills - and as long as they have control over their habit, no one else should care either...

It's all fun and games until one OD's.

I would not be surprised if this is the next challenge the AFL has to face; a player overdosing but a long as they can control that very unpredictable habit.

The amount of people who overdose on drugs compared to those who have a sustainable habit and hold down jobs/lives/families is very small -

But don't let that get in the way of a bit of sensationalism... I took MDMA last night. Had a great time.

Yeah because drugs and alcohol have never ruined anyone life.

If you want to try to make strawman arguments take it somewhere else

ofcourse drugs and alcohol negatively affect some people

but there's plenty of people who live fine with them
