List Mgmt. 2016 AFL Draft

I am just not convinced he will be a No 1 ruckman. I am normally very happy to take a tall and let him develop. I cannot see him as the Kennedy replacement. I saw Goddard give him a good rucking lesson and questioned whether an over-age ruckman should be better.

Hope I am wrong because he seems a decent guy.
Why would we pick a no.1 ruckman when we already have two who are very good. Do they not think they will recover from their injuries? Or is English for the next premiership tilt? What happened to this one? English is not going to help going for the flag in the next two years. Picking him would be a total waste of pick 12 as far as current premiership aspirations go. I would rather have Berry and I am not keen on him. This organisation seems to be becoming too smart for itself. Always climbing and never getting to the top. West Coast the 'new Richmond'.

The thing with English is that the pick makes no sense for us as a list..

Dunno the kid but it makes perfect sense to draft a young ruckman. Lists don't stay stagnant, time doesn't stand still. Nic Nat is 27 if English is any good he'll be just hitting his straps when the great man retires. I can see the other perspective though - draft a good to go mid with a view to a flag this year, but unless you snag a Judd/Cousins/Kerr type they aren't going to be finals differentiator for years anyway.

Saw a WA draftee and his family out celebrating on draft night one year. Freo had told him they were going to draft him with a late pick. He was longshot pick and had only talked to one club, Freo. He was picked up by the Victorian club with the pick before Fremantles. When I saw them they said they weren't just celebrating he was drafted, they were celebrating he wasn't going to Fremantle even though they supported his new teams biggest rival. He was not drinking because he was too scared about what was coming, the family was plastered!

Classy. Very classy. These days who wants to go to freo to be yelled at by Fyfe. Unless you get paid a lot of money.

but do we really need to have elite stocks forever? whats the point if the guys the ruckman are knocking it down too arent good enough.

This thread is the only place which seems to rate SPP as a top-15 pick? What's got everyone here excited about him that no-one else seems to see?
I know what you're saying and I'm probably more guilty than anyone of over-hyping him especially given I've seen next to nothing of this years other potential draftees

I have seen SPP play 5 or so league games for East Perth though which underpins my excitement for him.

On a direct talent comparison it may very well be that he's outside the top 15 keeping in mind that it's widely acknowledged there isn't much separating a very large group of players outside the top few. The range SPP sits in is very even so even if he isn't top 15 he's pretty close to those that are

In my opinion he is a very good fit for our side but people doing phantom drafts look more at talent rather than needs which is why he isn't talked about at our pick

Two posters on here with connections to east perth have both said our WA based recruiters like him so the love he gets on here isn't entirely misplaced even if it's not shared elsewhere

According to my inside source, Drew Petrie will be taken with our first rounder. Anticipating a lot of interest in him so we are getting in early.
You're on the list

Depends how you rate the importance of an elite ruckmen. I would be happy as a pig in shit if we uncovered a Cox-lite 300 game big man. If our club cant develop a midfield through that reign that is another problem altogether.

Everyone needs to chill about our first rounder/SPP pick, either way it will be a good player.
Who's our 2nd and 4th pick going to be?
2nd... Rotham or Bolten would we sick but who else?
no idea on the 4th. Zac Fisher if he gets through?
(predicting 3rd pick to be waterman)

Well today will be a day of mixed emotions Berry seems a solid pick the big body mid that can run all day a Dave Mundy type versus SPP a boots and all sort of footballer that plays hard and rag dolls opponents Dusty Martin or can even be as electric as a Jake Stringer type ..

That's right! It is the blueballs that many posters on this board will have when they are unable to get off for a year after SPP is picked after our first and before our second.
Im gonna have Blue balls anyway . I want SPP and Gelato

Mids win you flags not rucks, so the midfield is the one position where you can overload and the ruck is probably the least important imo.

When was the last time the premiership was won by a team who had a dominant ruck?

Heard that Norf are gonna pick him up before our first. Could be a 300 gaymer apparently...

Why hasnt Florent & Simpkin been mentioned much?
Florent's father died recently and apparently he has a preference to stay in Victoria as a result which is understandable.

Strangely I have seen a couple of phantoms saying Sydney are interested which goes against the common view that non-vic clubs aren't considering him
