Carltons is starting to look very Richmond like in the number of average, recyled players it targets. They may keep you reasonably competitive but never good enough to make or go deep in the finals.

Gotta say I wouldn't mind Gibbs at Port. He's been great since moving back into the midfield for Carlton, big body and a decent mix of outside and inside. Obviously got the soft reputation but he'd be huge rotating through with Boak, Gray, Ollie and Ebert.

Dem long-term contracts though

5AA call of the day...

"I think we should keep pick #13 and Lyons as they will be pretty important for us. What about Harry Dear who won the goal kicking for Westies? Ricky Henderson can play forward, Carlton need a forward?"

Tears.
Why is he playing for Westies if he is a crers player? Or have missed something?

Zach Tuohy leaving the Blues, is it? I liked him when I watched them but that was on only two occasions if I'm being honest

Bryce Gibbs re-signed with Carlton halfway through the year when he would have been eligible for free agency(2014). Unless the cows were in a position to approach him with an offer at that time then he was going to stay with Carlton. With Dangerfield on their books Adelaide may have felt that it wasn't the right time for an offer of over $600K.

Gibbs, 25, yesterday relinquished his free agency rights, saying he never once considered leaving Visy Park. His five-year contract is believed to be worth just under $3 million.

So what will the Hawks have to give up to get Tom Mitchell to have a centre square combo of Mitchell, Mitchell and Lewis??

Sounds more like an accountants or legal firm then a midfield line up :D

Some Carlton supporters not happy with the crers. The last 12 months the AFL has been fooled by them. What do they say about an animal with spots? I hope Carlton bend them over the trade table without lube.

...or they might discover exactly where their CEO's loyalties lie.

I did think that, but thought if Max Bailey was still playing, the centre square set up would be Mitchell, Mitchell, Bailey and Lewis which sounds like a real lawyers firm name. :)

Am I the only one that thinks a first rounder and a first 18 player for Gibbs is a lot for a player who has never been AA or won a B&F?

He won their B&F in 2014. A remarkable feat given they finished 13th and Marc Murphy played more than 3 games.

Lyons and cey for Gibbs by the sounds of it. Crers not happy to pay overs but will get the deal done.
Carlton won't accept that. They will bend the cows over big time. As Campaigner Gibbs is still under contract, cows have no power at all. Plus they have pixxed Carlton off big time by as usual being media whores. What an unprofessional corporation. They have a history of being unable to retain players and yet when they manage to bring one in, they fuxx that up as well. And some people talk them up as though they are the club for the ages.

The Crows were incensed when the Cats came and spoke to Dangerfield without notifying them yet Tex was taking coffee with Gibbs in Byron Bay last week without Carlton's knowledge. I do not think the Blues are that happy with the situation.

In this morning's press Gibbs is citing personal issues as a reason to return to Adelaide, you wonder what these are and whether they originate in Melbourne or back in Adelaide. Carlton are saying they will work through these issues so despite what some people in the media choose to believe the deal is far from done.

It's not just that Gibbs is under contract that gives Carlton the power, its that its a 3 year contract. With that sorta deal they have no threat of him just walking out next year and he isnt going to sit out 3 years ala. McCarthy.

The Blues purely have to make the call on whether they want to lose him or not and how that fits their list development plans. I'd expect they will be happy to trade, but they'll certainly want a great deal to make it worth their while.

It'll have to be pick 13 + player at a minimum.

His wife just had a baby over a year ago. Her sister also had a baby just over a year ago. Both of their families are in SA. That'd be the rationale behind it. When he signed the contract he probably was thinking that the absence of family would be alright but reality is changing that opinion.
