The Age said negotiations for Essendon defender Michael Hibberd'smove to Melbourne were not progressing, with the Demons insisting that the Bombers accept a second-round pick for next season rather than this year's second-round pick.

While there's additional factors at play here (Demons may expect to have a worse second round pick next year) this is at least some indication that not all clubs rate this and next year's draft significantly differently

Yep, there was always the hope that we would get some players in for our areas of need. But looks unlikely now that we have bought back our 2nd rounder that we gave away last year.
