Coz it's fun!

Assuming all players fit, plus us picking up Weitering with pick 1 (since realistically he is the only one we can bank on), ShanDog's best 22 for next year is:

FB: Tuohy - Jamison - Docherty
HB: Simpson - Weitering - Plowman

C: Boekhorst - Gibbs - Kerridge
R: Kreuzer - Murphy - Cripps

HF: Walker - Jaksch - Everitt
FF: Sumner - Casboult - Lamb

Int: Graham, Buckley, Curnow, Thomas
Em: Sheehan, Byrne, Dick, Armfield, Whiley, Rowe, Phillips, all dem 2015 first round picks :)

-Mobile forward line with one big bodied target only.
-Lots of run and/or carry in the team: Curnow, Kerridge, Everitt, Plowman, Simpson, Tuohy, Boeky
-Flexibility in positions with all 4 medium/small defenders able to push up the ground
-Good mix of inside and outside mids

Whats your best 22 and why?
 
I think we will need to be patient with Weitering still.
I haven't seen enough of Kerridge, Phillips, Lamb, Sumner and Plowman to throw them in. I'll wait until after NAB Cup.

Hopefully interchange doesn't impact too heavily on playing two ruckman because as much as I don't like it, I can't see another option but to play Kruezer forward.

If people are right in saying that he should be able to play round 1, we will put him in. As long as his body can handle AFL, there's no reason to keep him away from the firsts. What are we going to do - fall down the ladder? :D

I'd be happy with this 22.

The midfield actually looks competitive. Cripps, Murphy and Gibbs are all A-Grade... and the second stringers Graham, Curnow and Thomas have their strengths. I also like the pace on the wings.

The defence looks pretty solid too. All except Simpson are specialist 1 on 1. And has a pretty good balance between veteran and youth.

The forward line is up in the air and will depend on the development of Jaksch and how Sumner and Lamb end up.
 
We really can't chuck every addition aside just because we don't know what they are capable of. I reckon some of the players that get in will depend on their fitness and pre-season performance.

C - Bryce Gibbs, Nick Graham, Kade Simpson

This however might change in the coming weeks.

I rate Rowe but try as I may, can't fit him in.

I'm hoping pick 8 lands us a big forward type. Big ask to play at CHF, but it will help him develop.

Jaksch is back up for (pick 8).

Midfield rotations: I'm big on having lots of options... Cripps, Murphy, Gibbs, Everitt, Docherty, Kerridge, Curnow, Simpson, Touhy and maybe Buckley.

Old school, straight swap, Casbolt and Kreuzer at FF/RUCK.

Thomas would need to find something special to get in. Graham not quite there yet for mine.

The rest will have to work hard to get their chance.
 
We've certainly traded for the future. The media were being a bit overdramatic when rating Carlton's list recently, but now, well next year won't be pretty.
It's interesting who'll come on & get some games though, IMO we'll give most of the list at least a game or two.

Like this, but you're putting a bit of pressure on Jaksch!
Also i'd just swap Sumner for Lamb. Reckon Lamb is a bit more advanced at present.

Last three bench spots are up for grabs, with Sumner, Curnow, Sheehan and hopefully DVR in the mix.
Wanna see Touhy played up the ground, should be kicking inside 50 and for goal more often imo. I also think Docherty is played out of position in defense, similar to Gibbs' old situation. Thomas can take his spot in defense, he played his best games for us there in 2014.
Big fan of Graham, couldn't fit both him and Murph in the centre, Murph is the better forward so he starts there.

I think an important player is being forgotten by many. These days ruckmen who are less than 202 cm need to have a big spring or a massive body. So as long as he is fit, and until our int rookie Special K has developed, this is my suggestion:

C: Sheehan - Cripps - Gibbs
R: - Warnock - Murphy - Curnow

HF: Walker - Kreuzer - Everitt
