Going back over some video footage of the U18 Championships today I've been quite impressed with a young KPP Jack Maibaum 193cm 90Kegs, haven't heard his name mentioned much but I really like his game and could be a very good value pick in an area we don't have a lot of depth IMO.

Liked him and Ridley the #20 from metro as well

Most of the metro side is draftable and Hayes and Higgins will be guns next year

Scharenberg seems to have fallen out of favour? I wouldn't mind getting an early second round pick from somewhere.
Reckon 2nd or 3rd round. Good contested ball player but lacks point of difference

May be similar level to Lyons but Jarryd can go forward which not sure Shaz junior can

Give he's already got a bit of reputation I can't see him lasting until the 3rd rd. Sounds like many still have him top 30, bit more prolific than Lyons?
Definitely wouldn't mind getting in the 2nd round if have one, especially if we can grab one of the athletic/pacy mids with our first. Sounds like a really quality draft for mids.

Reckon Atley wouldn't be the worst at our pick , others in mix Powell-pepper , Taranto , Fisher (WA)

Who else Bicks ?
Of those 4 Taranto really appeals to me, certainly take him before Atley, good blend of inside/outside, smooth mover, good skills, capable of hitting the scoreboard in bunches up forward, not sure he'll still be there at our pick though just oozes class.
I'd pass on Fisher, prolific ball winner but just not sure with his size that can translate to AFL, have a feeling one of the WA clubs might nab Powell-Pepper before us.
I'd love to get Andrew McGrath, he has it all, pace, endurance, skills, defensive mindset...absolute gun, unfortunately he's now on everyone's radar, I wouldn't be discounting Jarrod Berry just yet either as injuries have slowed his progress this season and I wouldn't be too concerned about his form in the Championships.

I'm really starting to think this is a ripper draft and the midfielders this draft bat very deep, at this stage I reckon there's a dozen around our likely 1st pick or even later I'd be happy with Taranto, Bunker, Scrimshaw, Atley, Drew, Clarke, Hampton, Scharenberg, Graham, Junker, etc.....Jack Roughsedge another if he can get some TAC games in before the draft could be a real smokey.

My feel is we'll take Scharenberg if he's there at our pick.

Plenty of other good ones as well and he will go in an order and if we rate him high enough at a certain pick we will grab him . Otherwise , we get someone else we rate higher

I'd be surprised if we couldn't find a better player with our 2nd pick from what I've seen so we shall see

Not so sure about that bicks . Found him to look a little one dimensional , prefer an inside/outside mid. Not sure Hamish would rate him, I'd prefer graham of the 2

Clarke would be a better version of Shaz if we want that type

Taranto could be around the mark for our pick , Atley a chance . Keep thinking it's the year to draft the metro kids as that's where the talent is

Wouldn't discount the 2 SA boys Jake Pitman and Jake Comitogianni [midfield] in later rounds either.

You mean our 2nd pick which is a 3rd round draft pick at his stage?

Good
South Australian gets MVP of the championships (Graham)
5 South Australians in all Australian U18 team
http://www.afc.com.au/news/2016-06-30/sa-five-in-u18-aa-team

Bad
Cal Twomey does not include one South Australian in his top 20

Ugly
This board is so used to such bias nobody considers this worthy of comment.

Jack Graham will be around our pick I think, sure he's a man child which is why he's dominating now, but can always do with grunt in the midfield. I'm thinking a similar player to Jack Viney

Pity North didn't pick Graham or Jarman in the league this week against us ! might have to get there early if I can to watch them in the ressies

Why aren't North playing him this year when he played well in reserves last year?

Great innovation by the AFL.....

THE best underage talent will be showcased during grand final week, with two All-Star games to be built into the AFL’s revamped grand final week.

The AFL is set to announce the launch of two All-Star games just before the grand final — the first, featuring the top 50 players in the draft pool, to be played at Punt Rd Oval after the grand final parade at around 3pm on grand final eve.

A day later, the top 50 under 17s will play on the MCG as a curtain raiser to the main event later in the afternoon.

The games will give club recruiters an opportunity to see the best talent take on each other ahead of the draft combine — which will commence the following Monday — and November’s national draft.

The AFL will pick the respective teams and match them up evenly, with no state-based allegiances to be considered. For instance, two Vic Metro players who played on the same team during the recent under 18 carnival could find themselves on opposite sides come the All-Star game.

Had this under 18s game existed last year, for example, Carlton’s Jacob Weitering and Brisbane’s Josh Schache — the No. 1 and No. 2 draft picks — could have played on one another in the Punt Rd game, which is expected to be broadcast live on Fox Sports.

The under 17s game will also be two evenly distributed All-Star teams with players from every state and territory. It is expected to start at about 10am at the MCG on grand final day.

These two games replace the previous underage curtain raiser, which was a match between the Allies — comprised of players from NSW, Queensland, Tasmania, NT and the ACT — against the All-Australian under 17s team.

Imagen if over the next five years we went Angwin, Reilly, Carey, Watts, Meesen, Sellar with our first rounders
