Is he any good though? Don't really follow the draftees.
The article I read last night which gave me that crazy idea suggests he is doing very good at high school and TAC level, but he didn't put his name down for the nationals. He is apparently just like his dad... A small forward with x-factor. Is only 178cm tall though.

Really ??

Jacob Weitering went at #1, Buddy Franklin was somewhere in the Top 10.

Where was Rory Sloane drafted ??

You are making me look like an expert with the amount of crap you peddle and that is really saying something.

Some people are really jumpy on here when someone gives a differing opinion.

This year's draft is a midfielders draft. It's been well documented. Which top 10 picks do you want the club to spend on a KPD or KPF?

Last year when the draft was more of a KPP draft, the club did the right thing and went after the best KPP they could. By all reports, if we spend our first pick on say Battle when Brodie, Venables, Jonty, SPS etc are available then that will most likely come back to haunt us.

Grabbing two of the mids I mentioned would be a huge boost for us otoh. If we have two picks and McCluggage is available then I would be ecstatic if we got him along with one of the other mids I mentioned (highly unlikely Brodie will be there).

So, please tell me, who is this Buddy Franklin like player available in this year's draft? You can't expect the club to use draft picks on what isn't there...

Can't understand why the Larke medalist Jack Graham is not rated in top 20 by a lot of so-called experts. He is very mature, will great leadership skills, and an absolute ball magnet. You don't win Larke medals unless you've got excellent football smarts. I hope we falls to us in the draft.

Lark?

Mature body, poor kicking skills and not as much perceived upside.

His dad was never lightly built or undersized and was playing VFL as a 17 yr old and was center in the 1980 Grand Final side the next year.

He is coming from a long way back to be as good as his father. No one is likely to bid inside the first 2 rounds

I notice that he does need some improvement in his footskills, but if you have leadership skills like he has, and gets 30+ touches a game, does that rule him out for a low draft pick? These things can improve with good development. As I said, you don't win Larke medals for nothing. One of the Adelaide clubs will probably snap him up in the draft.

Collingwood bet their future on Treloar and Aish... and this year they have 2 father/sons coming through. And they kept sliding down the ladder this year. All it will take is one early bid this year to screw them up this year and next.

His kicking has a big question mark over it.

Well then, feel free to dazzle us with some of your insightful opinions on the club, the playing list, the players themselves etc

I'm not sure a moderator needs to give their opinions on the playing list in order to ask you not to consistently talk down to others. It's just a slight tweak in approach being asked for.

And before anybody else comes back with cries of hypocrisy, consistency or anything else, it doesn't change the point being made.

Nobody needs the angst.

The bigger issue for the Pies is how do the 2 f/s fit in with their list management strategy given they are both sub 180? They may not want either but feel compelled to let the heart over rule the head. There have been plenty of dud f/s

Would Daicos even have been noticed and selected for VM if it wasn't for his name?

Larke medal does not instantly mean youre a top draft pick. The last few years it has been the case, but a few years ago a few players were not highly rated come draft day.

Does anybody else get a bit of a Mitch Robinson vibe from Powell-Pepper?

Slight resemblance, seems aggressive, a bit bash and crash but disposal hit and miss.

Wait, that's a pretty good list...

Not too bad at all. Probably about an 80% success rate in the last 12 years or so. Just a matter of whether they have been worth the draft picks used on them.

I likened him to a poor mans Dustin Martin.
If he used the ball better he'd be right up the pointy end of the draft.

I don't see Martin as overly aggressive. Physical with ball in hand but not really when it comes to his whole game. I guess the comparison kicks in when Powell-Pepper hits the scoreboard.

Can you get Time on Ground stats for the U18 championship games. Watching the VM v WA game, Venables does seem to be off the ground a bit (only watched up to him getting injured late in the second so far so not sure if he comes back on or not) or playing deep in the forward line.

I think he has a really good inside game so I wonder why he is not getting put in there more often. Maybe because there are others who need the exposure more (Bunker is always in there) or maybe because he has forward ability that others don't have.

Really hard to get a fair read on him. I just hope that people see moments the commentators say recruiters look for and project what he might do with more time in the middle.

All about perception I suppose. First time I saw SPP I thought of Martin.
