Pretty sure he's the Academy coach.
Exactly, which is why he is pumping up the tyres on the first 40 candidates.
If we look closely at him, Kevin Sheehan has probably written his script for him too.

Thanks for that. There's about 10 players there that they've listed as the early stand outs, four of them being midfielders.
Keeping our first pick next year is a must.

Think another high quality small forward would be on there list of needs.
They have Devon Smith who is a gun, but not much in the way of back up.
There's no question in this postanswer to a question. still never said force him out
Gibbs would have to agree to any trade, as he is contracted. Gibbs has said all along he wants to be a one club player. You need to look elsewhere for tradable commodities.
Age shmage !!
Do they honestly bring something to our list that we don't already have ??
Are they sufficiently talented enough to warrant being traded for ??
How much potential upside do they have ??
If you can answer those questions then you will be able to work out whether they are worth trading for. My immediate feel is that Steele would be a good get but the other two not.

Steele is from Canberra and would be considered a local so why is he being moved on?Ainsworth?
They topped up with inside mids last year having taken Hopper & Kennedy....adding to Shiel, Ward, Steele, Scully...
They may keep drafting them but at least they may feel that the locals are less likely to want to leave.

I was under the impression Marchbank is a potential 200game KPD that would enable Weitering to play as the 3rd tall in the future...

Classy outside mids? Kelly, Whitfield, Griffen, Coniglio, Pickett, Ahern.........
They really don't need any more mids other than to keep developing the ones they have.........and to keep them.
Now they have Setterfield & Perryman available to them also.
Can we see a situation where they don't go for the Academy talent?
Canberra is a shit holeSteele is from Canberra and would be considered a local so why is he being moved on?
I have always thought the scepticism about people working with the academy is a little unfair.
From what I have seen, every year these guys give their rating, usually described as how far deep the real talent runs, and it does tend to vary each year. Last year I think they said the top 10 was very good, and then it levelled out quite early, around 25.
Whereas this year they are saying it levels out at around 40.
I remember when Andrew Walker went at 2, and Shifter said that Andrew will take the longest to come on (of the top ten) because he was more athlete first than footballer. Seems a fairly sincere, accurate summation to me.
Are you sure you're not trying to LOOK the expert here SHiek ??
Ever actually lived here?Canberra is a shit hole
i am sure sheehan is very knowledgable and knows what he is doing. i think the point is you cant always trust what they say. understandably they would be biased or slant things to suit their position
SSShhh, we don't want just anyone coming here
I'll go out on a limb and say that I think the top 6-8 (including academy) players from last year's draft, would all go ahead of all but a small handful available this year, and half of the latter are also academy players. Depth is the key this year.
