If Haywood can deliver a similar sort of output i'd be satisfied...although those 3 are all midfielders while Haywood is more a medium forward (when we're crying out for midfielders).

Seems to bode well though that he can lift and have big performances in big games under pressure...clubs seem to really rate that.
Didn't Sidebottom kick like 10 goals in the Grand Final before he got drafted?

This is the big one for me. Bont had increasing midfield minutes and killed it towards the back end of his draft year, De Goey was playing quite a bit in the midfield and Oliver was always a midfielder. There is no midfield exposure to draw upon for Haywood.

At this stage in the rebuild I'd rather we take someone we know can run through there, and do so at a high-level. We'd be negligent to take Haywood if Petrevski-Seton was available.

Good article, impressive lad.

Happy to get him at 5, get the pure inside mid at 25.

I know it's a fluff-piece, but I got sucked in anyway.

Sounds like a really respectful kid, takes his football seriously, has lived away from home and doesn't sound like a huge flight risk.

I'm on the SP-S train. All aboard! :bullettrain:

I don't know how credible this bloke is, but Tom Baulch from Roar did a mock 2016 draft and had us picking Brodie, Jack Maibaum and Taylin Duman.

Can't say I've seen Maibaum or Duman mentioned on here - maybe for good reason? Anyone know anything about them?

Also I would have thought passing on our last three (?) picks a bit odd, unless we have plans to pick up a few DFAs (which doesn't look likely at the moment).

does anybody have info from the inside football draft special they can post so that tight arses like myself dont have to pay for it? from some that i know brett anderson has genuine contacts in clubland and most importantly is trusted. i always like to listen to his comments/opinions

Maibaum has been mentioned, just that most don't rate him at #25, but he's around the mark.

Most wouldn't be familiar with Duman, but I think he has also been mentioned:

He looks capable, but a tad one-dimensional. Medium defender or lead-up high HF. Would probably be there at 63, but I doubt we'd look at him given our need for mids and a young ruck.

With Plowman, Marchbank, Weitering, Byrne and JGM, we're better off looking at a KPD next year if a couple of those don't continue trending upwards, unless someone falls into our laps.

It's a lazy mock draft - we'll be taking more than 3 picks in the national draft.

How many we take exactly is still up in the air but with 5 spots currently available on the senior list, picks 5, 25, 48, 63 and 66 are all currently on the agenda if we want to go with 39 senior listed players once again in 2017.

Picking up a DFA will change that but my guess is the person who put that mock together didn't have that in mind.

I can tell you Duman is a wonderful footballer. Really Smart, hard at it and nice skills...
Has an older brother who could've easily played AFL if footy was his priority...
If Taylin stays healthy, he'll be one of those Players that will have people scratching their heads years from now, wondering how he went so late in the draft... Quality, I assure you.

I can't get the notion out of my head that someone who hails from Halls Creek may just have a strong "go home" factor.
In terms of distance, a Halls Creek boy going 'home' to Perth is like a Brisbane boy going 'home' to Melbourne.

Depending what our selections are with the first 3 picks, I would consider Maibaum from then on. Instead of Duman, I would rather Ridley, much cleaner, good composure and great by foot, again later in the draft

Ridley seems a slim chance to make it to 48, let alone 63.

What AFL positions do you see for him? I think he looks clean with the footy, but he also looks like a straight line player who's only ever going to be the guy that works an opponent over at either end.

Hey Coach, he seems to fumble a bit, not the norm I gather, from what you know of him?

I think he'd be a forward pocket that would be incredibly difficult to match up on. He can take a strong grab, but is also very good below his knees. Can kick goals in a variety of ways. Freakish ability to get boot to ball quickly and off balance. Can do the simple things well, but likes the impossible too. Have seen him kick some goals from the boundary that leave you wondering how the hell he did that...

Not from what I've seen. Although he can be sucked in a bit. If his opponent gets in his head, he can be distracted for periods of a game. Maybe that's where the fumbling comes from. But I can't say for sure. But from what I've seen, he's normally clean with the footy...

SPS is a country WA boy. Worked on the family farm and likes to go hunting etc. Could seriously help alleviate any go home factor with Cripps being of a similar background and story. That article certainly helped with persuading me he would be a great get at pick 5 should that be the way SOS sees it.

Just quietly, anyone who likes to do bull riding is gonna be tough as nails and scared of noone on the footy field.

Would you rate him in front of Ridley?
