I'm not saying this from a CFC POV, but i think it is a near certainty that Brisbane bid on Bowes.
It is in the northern clubs own huge interest for the 20% discount to remain on academy players. For the southern clubs to continue allowing this, the bidding system must not only be legit, but seen to be legit.
I'm not fussed enough to argue this and other reasons in detail, but i'm confident that Brisbane will bid on Bowes at 3 and GC will snap match.
The only scenario in which I see Brisbane not bidding on Bowes, is if Essendon select McGrath and GWS select Ainsworth.
I reckon you are a tough marker if you wouldn't want the Will Brodie in this clip in Navy Blue. They are only junior footballers.Plenty to love.

I don't think they will unless the connection to Ainsworth breaks loose.
That is exactly, exactly why you bid on Bowes.GWS wont do that though. I believe the first two picks are set in stone, McGluggage and McGrath and the BL will still get the same player even if they bid on Bowes. Just like we get the same player even after bidding on Bowes, assuming the Lions don't bid on him before us. That's why I was saying earlier that bidding on Bowes is pointless. GCS get Bowes 100%, BL get Ainsworth who seems to be their first choice, Ainsworth wants to go their too I believe, and we will take SPS, if recent talk is correct that he is our first choice. GWS have clearly locked onto McGrath as well. That's why they traded as they did, so they could get him.
They will get Ainsworth regardless. GC will snap match the Bowes bid.
I wouldn't take the risk and nor do I think Brisbane should, if they for instance rate Ainsworth at 2 and Bowes at 8.
If they're in love with Ainsworth they should be true to themselves and to Ainsworth.
You must not rate Patty Cripps then, as plenty of his handballs go backwards and sideways and by the very simple metric ( simple because it doesn't take into account the end result of the possession) is low metres gained player. If you win the ball in a contest and give it to a player in space that is not under pressure when they dispose of the ball, to me that is a positive impact.I reckon you're being pretty generous with the phrase 'positive impact' there. Even for metres gained, a very simple metric, it's not that flash given how often he handballs backwards, sideways and for less than 2 metres.

Yeah Brodie only ever kicks the leather off the ball aye!
Brodie has better disposal than Taranto - fact
Kinda my point though, and hence why you can play around with the metres gained stat based on the chain of possession, as well as why they also highlight who started the chain of possession (particularly Pro-Stats, who The Age affiliate themselves with I think). You must not rate Patty Cripps then, as plenty of his handballs go backwards and sideways and by the very simple metric ( simple because it doesn't take into account the end result of the possession) is low metres gained player. Thank Christ for that!!! Can I cancel the padded cell we booked for Toddski just in case it didn't happen??? Absolutely love Toddski's passion for the "Flying Tortilla".
Reckon that's a real stretch Flowers. If I'm drafting someone who I believe will be most likely to have the greatest impact on a game and stand up in big moments at Pick 5 then I'd take some mighty convincing that Taranto's not our man. As much as I like SPS & Brodie as well, the "Flying Tortilla" has won me over. Having said that, I'd still like SOS to bid on Setterfield & Bowes to keep some integrity in the academy system.Yeah Brodie only ever kicks the leather off the ball aye!

The whole point of it is for us to bid for the player where we would be happy to take him. You don't bid to play mind games; you bid because you like him. If they're not prepared to pay, you get the player. It's worked great so far.

Really like the look of SPS and then Brodie at pick 5 and would LOVE it if we took Tony Olango! Looks like a better, more athletic version on NicNat.
We now have Gallucci at #25 as well. It's the Italian surnames, I tell you.![]()
stop quivering - he meant 'guarantee'...........Fact?
