He's a potential star , country lad . Agressive . Reckon he will be top 10 next year sort of 192cm but will play like tex up the ground/ mobile I reckon with fair bit of aggression .Would be a great get
He certainly impressed the hell out of me!
Would like to see him play that role at reserves level a bit to see if it actually translates.

I really hate this 'manchild' term people attach to some players. I have no interest in Graham due to footskills limitations but to drag a guy down because he's bigger, I think goes counter to the fact our game is played by people all shapes and sizes.

By the way, Graham is almost the same height and weight as Brodie, Taranto, Venables, Powell-Pepper and Brad Scheer. Why aren't we applying 'manchild' to them too?
Probably because Graham's main attribute is his ability to win inside ball - which he does through strength. the others largely have other attributes, that Graham lacks.

Bit like Wines, not a great kick, not super quick, but shit he knows how to get the pill with Strenght.

Id take Wines in our team right now!

Comes back to where you play, most want smith to go into the mid because of his leg but would he be as accurate under more pressure, I doubt it. Crouch and Sloane aren't terrible kicks at all they are just always under the pump
Look I appreciate that Crouch brings some good attributes to our team but having him in the same sentence to Sloane in kicking is just plain wrong. M Crouch is easily the worst kick in our squad and would be in the worst half dozen midfielders in kicking I've ever seen. He is too upright and he lifts the ball too high and his weight is transferring backwards as he kicks, technically he is a mess. I've seen him miss the entire field of play when kicking from an out on the full and only just make contact with his foot when kicking at goal once. He is a beast in close and his hands are excellent and if he learns to minimise the damage from his disposal he will be a good AFL player but when in the same midfield as Thommo we are not in good shape, disposal wise.

How about Dangerfield(clangerfield as he was affectionatly known) I agree he can be a little off similar to PD, and PD just won a brownlow and was the best player in the comp last year. Midielders under pressure are expended a little grace because of the pressure they are under. where an outside Mid (wingman) doesnt get that luxury along with Forwards

Dangerfield is actually a reasonable kick technically but often just slams it on the boot rather than settling. When he is settled he can kick goals and hit targets, Matt Crouch is just plain awful at kicking.

OK, just tell me have you ever been in the vicinity of Josh Begley?
I've stood near him at the 3/4 time huddle as I have Brodie, they are chalk and cheese regards physical development, weight and height has FA to do with it.... grundog49

One would think and hope that our club coaching staff would be working extensively with M Crouch on changing that kicking technique
(I have my doubts for no reason that they are actually doing this)

I'm not huge on the Barlow idea but does make a lot more sense than keeping Grigg around again.

DOnt understand the Grigg hate on here. He is 23 years old. 24 in January. As a 22 year old under Walshy he played 6 games in a row before injuring himself at bounce. Campo never picked him again despite good SANFL form. This year we were lucky we had such a good injury run and Pykey never liked to change a winning team so despite Grigg playing well in the SANFL and Douglas/Mackay etc spudding it up in the AFL he wasnt given a chance. I would get rid off Douglas/Mackay first as they are close to 30. Yes I know they are contracted still but contracts can be broken.

I don't hate Grigg, but it seems clear to me that the powers that be do. Agree he looked good under Walsh, so did CEY. I feel like it might be best for him to move on at this point that's all.

I see Knightmare has Melbourne taking Willem Drew at 47 in his Phantom, personally I can't see him lasting until then, if he's still there at our pick 43 I would be disappointed if we didn't pounce....

Clubs without a first or second round draft choice:

Entering the draft in the third round with pick No. 47, Melbourne while loaded through the midfield, are believed to rate stoppage specialist Willem Drew highly. The 188cm, 78kg midfielder, if available would represent outstanding value as arguably the premier stoppage player of the TAC Cup in 2016 with his heavy tackles, first-possession winning at stoppages and aggressiveness features of his game. From pick 40 onwards, the value is in the midfielders. With Melbourne still needing to fill other areas of the ground, it is likely with their other selections that they will address other list needs if they go for the value and select the powerful ball-winner here.

The big question is how many draftees fail and are never to be seen again, a lot over pick 20 I would suggest, but there are still a fair perecentage under pick 20 which will fail miserably.

This is where the risk is against trading those picks, Rendell was a gun at getting good ones, Ogilvie in the three drafts he has been in charge of has M Crouch who was probably a left over of Rendell after taking Brad, and Lever, Milera looks good but still has to cement himself and Doedee is a work in progress

Doedee is going to be a very, very good AFL defender. Watched him very closely this year and his defensive nous is what you'd expect from a player who's played the game all his life, not someone relatively new to the game. A few of our senior lads should take a leaf out of his book in terms of sheer will and competitiveness.

Just watched his video. If he's already adept in the stoppages it certainly doesn't look like he's relying on size to do it. He's a rake! Plenty of physical development left.

Good to hear he thinks of himself as a midfielder
I've been trying to tell people that for 12 months now...The plan for Jarrod was always to transition straight into the midfield in 2016, unfortunately the shoulder surgery and the rehab took longer than expected so he missed a chunk of the pre-season training and then some niggles with a knee meant he came back mid season through half back, once he built up his tank again he played midfield for the remaining 4 games and dominated in that role. Contrary to some reports I've read he wasn't playing forward when he rattled the scoreboard heavily, he was playing midfield and most of those goals were nailed from outside 50 on the run.

Exactly, but he's very wirey, tough kid believe me. B.O.G. for his "home" team Koroit in the Hampden League A Grade Grand Final against the men too.

Willem Drew wins the Roy Hoy Medal for B.O.G in the Grand Final..

North Warrnambool Eagles 7.1-43 8.3-51 8.5-53 10.7-67
Koroit 2.1-13 4.7-31 8.9-57 14.16-100

KOROIT
Goal Kickers: W. Couch 5, W. Drew 3, J. Korewha 2, L. Nagorcka, B. Goodall, T. Mulraney, M. Darmody
Best Players: W. Drew, T. Mulraney, L. Nagorcka, J. Watson, W. Couch, J. Korewha

I rate Ogilvie higher than Rendell. Ogilvie was the mastermind behind Danger, Sloane, Talia, Hendo while Rendell was in charge. Both are outstanding recruiters but hearing many interviews with both over the years, Ogilvie gives me more confidence. He just gets it in a big way. He knows what he's doing.

I really like the look of him and he has that inside/outside blend that we're looking for.
I really hope he can slide to 43 which will hopefully come into 37 after academy picks.

Ogilvie was in charge of Victorian talent while Rendell was running recruiting.

If I've got a choice between Venables and Florent, who would you want me to choose? I'm leaning to Florent.

Doedee had a year of development got shown up on occasions but to be expected unfortunately he was only one of two first rounders that failed to get an AFL debut

But I'm sure he will develop
