We should never give our 1st pick away, never. This years draft is supposedly rich in mid fielders . The draft is our future not only next year. If we can trade current players to pick up additional picks then great. We should look at B Jarman if the price is right.
Think you have to look at each draft .....next years is supposedly rich in talls, something we're starting to get desperate for with both KPF's over 27 next season

However if the deal is right and the player is not a want, but a need, then i'm ok .......this opinion is also supported by having some real talent sitting on our Rookie list

going out on a limb .....but Jarman looks to have potential to be a S. Mitchell type player (not equivalent am i saying, not that stupid)

In that case this is the very issue, team comes first before any player demands

Agree, but we also need coaches who have more than just one trick to deploy. Clarke was a tap ruckman who could do little else. I doubt he's got any idea how to work a genuine 2 ruck combo and how to make use of a ruckman when they're not at a stoppage.

Sorry, being interstate what makes you say this ?
1. Appears to be a falling out of the port leadership group such that it is impacting on player performance.

2. Port are openly trying to trade hartlett, so that is hardly going to repair fractured relationships.

As i've said, if Hartlett insists on staying in Adelaide ......not too many options are there? ....unless my maths is bad

So what's the word though, is Hartlett a victim here or is he a bit of a knob? If the latter, do we want him even if the price is low?

If the selectors & their fitness tests couldn't tell like the average punter that their ankles were buggared, then we have a major problem in intelligence...

Players always want to play. Selectors responsibility to say no!

I'm not convinced we run fitness tests to try and rule players out. Gut feel is that players have been empowered and as long as they get through the final session, which is reportedly a light one, they can play.

I think Lobbe going will help change that TTP as well.

Look, I doubt we will get him cheap. If we get HH, it won't be for a second round pick. Can not see it happening
What about a 2nd and CEY?

As I said, they are between a rock & hard place.

They have 2 highly paid members of their leadership group they want moved on... But they are dreaming if they think they will get full value for them.

If they don't trade them, it will wreck their 2017 season, so they have no option.

WTF? Is this an elite professional sporting organisation or a C grade old scholars ammo team where a group of mates play together?

I think if you are relying on the player to tell the truth re an injury you are going to be told "I'm good" 95% of the time. The medical staff need to make the call.
With a combination of fear of losing your spot with greater depth and good players in most positions in the SANFL and great match payments, the players will always talk themselves into thinking they are going to be right even if they are 70:30 not.
Yes i agree ......but doctors in the main provide their prognosis based on patient feedback?

I couldn't care less if he still "sees" boaks girlfriend if he plays for us, on second thoughts better still he does it playing for them :)

We are told the player got through final training ok, which is clearly bullshit!

We need to get real about these fitness tests, as it costs us big time when we take in passengers... Which is utterly stupid selection when we have adequate fit replacements waiting in the wings.

No, doctors should make their own assessment. It's what they are paid very well to do!

Only if it's better than the alternative

They could do us a huge favour... so long as they could sell it as a bigger triumph to their sheep-like followers
Like getting a CEY and 2nd round pick .....and using the freed up TPP to get another player?

It's the selectors & coaches role to manage the minutes, not the players...

Not sure about that. It's known that the mids make the calls on their rotations and who's doing what. Sauce I'm sure would be involved in discussions on his minutes and rucking deep into our 50. If he wanted it changed, I'm sure we'd come up with a second rucking strategy.

From what I have heard, their captain is the bigger knob...

In business ....if you make a mistake, identify the fact quickly and put immediate corrective actions in place ......Port made mistakes, they can correct them and move forward positively towards 2017

If it was me, I'd be trying to get/keep a second round pick for this year and next.

In my wildest dreams, we could trade Mackay and Lyons and 2017 3rd for pick 22, 27 and 40.

I'd potentially do 2017 first and CEY for Hartlett and their 2017 second.

Then I'd look at the four picks we have before 40 and our 2017 second, and I'd bring at least one premium mid in.

I'd be fine with pick 13 and 40 for Gibbs.

Go read their board and see if they could sell "a second round pick and CEY" as a win?
I understand BF posters don't get the big picture ......but like any PR campaign, they can be swayed :p
