I agree with your view that a finals appearance could be a decisive factor in him wanting to stay. In regards to the possibility of him leaving, do you think this is because he is a country boy and wants to get back home or because he'll chase the lucrative contract offers that are bound to come his way

You guys offered pick 4 for Luke Breust back in the 2014 trade period. I could see you guys making another play for him this year. He'd be the perfect replacement for Steve Johnson next year. Would be a smart move for him as well jumping from one dynasty straight onto the next. Could finish his career with 6-7 flags if he leaves the Hawks on the way down and jumps ship to the Giants on the way up.

And as good a player as he is I don't think he fills a need for us.

Even if he did express an interest in leaving, at 25 he'd attract offers from all over and be in a position to demand some serious coin. I think our cap space would be better spent in keeping our core group together.

Not sure we would. Palmer still has a year on his contract, Pickett should be back and fit and Dev and Toby play that role as well.

I understand why the Giants would make a play for him and yes he's probably worth more to the Giants than the compo pick they'll get from the Pies, but I don't think he's keen to go anywhere...

Well you can't have Steele. Simple as that.

Barrett? Maybe - he's in the Miles, Whiley, Townsend bracket - too good for NEAFL can't crack the seniors. Would entertain a trade to get him a game somewhere.

Pick, more likely. We need to reduce the main list size by 4 over the next 3 years. Only take a player if he filled a specific and needed role for us, but don't think there's really a Port player that fits that mould for us.

Second rounder for a kid who has had a few years in the system and is only not playing because of the absolute a-graders that are in front of him is about fair I reckon.
