I think we have to see all the trade cards hit the table before we can make a definitive judgement.

However, if we get pick 2, plus key 2016 academy targets, plus Lids, plus hit the salary cap this looks like a win.

We are in the flag window now, and a success-hungry elite utility who fits our culture sounds very sensible.

In short, welcome Lids - let's make 2017 very, very special.

And a shout out to the Tiges fans, should be a win-win deal.

That's a ridiculous assertation and in no way what I said

You said the pick we use is not relevant I say it is for a 30 year old. The only way this trade makes any sense is the club have been told of the (rumoured) Whitfield suspension.
Either way it is what it is the club will do what it wants.

U raised some relevant issues in regards to kids being pushed out due to lack of opportunity. But if they can't push out the 30 year old has been with injury issues (as some have portrayed him) those same kids won't be hugely missed

Reality is that he makes us a better team NOW where as any kid we draft will take years to contribute to the win loss ratio. We could walk away with lids, a top two pick and most of the academy kids.... what a trade period

And of course I assume u jest when suggesting pick 2 is on the table for this

The more I think about it, the more I like the idea of Deledio joining us. A definite first 22 player. If the younger mids aren't happy with it, they need to up their game, more determination and more hunger to take someone else's spot. We are a team in a premiership window, every player should be wanting to be in the team to be there on grand final day should we make it.

I'm also starting to love the idea.

Also how is any team supposed to contain Patton, Cameron, lobb, Greene, smith, Johnson and Deledio in the forward line.

Also would love to see what he can do when he isn't being tagged

He won't be a full time midfielder anyway, he'll likely spent most of his time floating between the half forward and half back line.

Mckenna

yet to finalise a deal and/or find a new home officially.

Have I forgotten anyone?

I seriously doubt it
Not out of the question. Look at Steele - could say that Griffen was the blockage (with 2 years of contract left) that caused him to jump. Bam Bam the more likely casualty - he's the one I had pencilled in for the 7th forward spot (midfield relief). That's the fear - plus that we blow a high pick on what should be 10-12 year investment on a 2 year get-rich-quick buy.

If he helps win us our first flag, it is worth it.

They don't hand out participation medals in the AFL.

If we lose him and Lids breaks down, well... look out for the General Giant!
