I knew you couldn't have all that stored up top, it was too good.

It would be stored on BF as it has been discussed before. It's easy to get lazy when you have such a handy resource to pull things up on at the touch of a fingertip.

Google, Wikipedia, Blueseum etc, no need to store it on BF nowadays.

The info is all there if you want it.

Google doesn't store, it just points you back to Blueseum, Wiki and quite often BigFooty threads.

Maybe.... No, but I'm sure he reads my posts :D

I must tell you a story about a footy coach .................

This was some years ago, I was probably in my late 20's/early 30's and we were at a party on the other side of town and I got talking to a group of young lads (late teens/early 20's) who all played footy together. For whatever reason, they listened to every word I said and laughed at some of my silly anecdotes etc.

About an hour later, a guy in his mid-40's spoke to me and asked if I would be prepared to take his club's training sessions and assist him with his coaching. He didn't know what it was I was doing, he just felt that I had an ability to get through to those kids that he probably didn't and I could help him out with the job.

As I was young and inexperienced in that area, I thanked him for his interest and knocked it back.

Always wondered what would of happened had I taken up the offer ........

I'll tell you what would've happened, you would've helped them improve and develop.
It's all about communication Sheik. I have a tenuous grasp on tactics and structures, I leave a lot of that to others.
But if you can get through to young blokes, inspire them, challenge them, and "dare" them to be better than they thought they could be, you're well ahead of the game.
I once gave a pre game speech about a yellow pages book before a final and it worked a treat.
It's about looking at them in the eye and having them "believe" what you're saying will bring them success. I don't know you but from reading your posts, I reckon you would've done just that and been good for those boys.

Economy wise, how many humps of water are you using to the 100kms?

Fill up in Sydney, normally top up in Goulburn, again in Albury (the Murray River is very good) and that gets me to Melbourne easily.

All up, I'm getting around 600kms to the hump.

You bloody idiot !!! :)

Pretty much on the money.

I ask them directly for better efforts both individually & collectively, I challenge the players at our club to reach greater heights by goal-setting individually, as a team and as a club. I set up training so its simulates match scenarios so they can improve their onfield efforts, they always enjoy it even it if it is hard work.

I also make sure there is plenty of humour in there as well, helps break it up and makes everyone feel like they are part of it. The new guys at pre-season really feel welcome if they get given a nickname and have a joke with them as well.

I also thank them for attending training and working hard, I always keep assuring them that they will reap the benefits on match day. Aftermatch we always provide reward & recognition for outstanding efforts plus we rib the guys who have had a sh!t day too. Winning & laughing, always been a successful system for me !!

Who wants to be barrelled for two-hours by a guy on a camel anyway ??

I ask my blokes to do three things whenever they're on the field, whether it's training or game day...

Learn, contribute, enjoy.

That's it.

Truth is, a monkey could coach my side. I have an incredible group of boys.

I don't think there are too many other things to ask of your players because when it all boils down, no matter what the sport is, if you aren't enjoying it, then you won't do it for long.

To enjoy it, you need to harness & improve your skills as much as you can (Learn) and in that way, you can then make a meaningful contribution to the team.

They are all intertwined.

Ok, enough of my coaching pearls of wisdom. No one wants to hear my rubbish.

Sheik, I think I've seen a human side of you tonight, so can you please look into your heart, and NOT trade Gibbs? Please?

Don't make comments like that, people will stop thinking I'm a hard-arse loon on a camel. ;)

It's not up to me whether he gets traded or not. :)

Whilst this rebuild is on, no-one is safe IMO.

I won't tell anyone, I promise...

And Don't sell yourself short, You have lots of influence from up on that camel...

With the drastic changes to the list. It is safe to say that it has become ten times better. How well the team goes next year can place this list on top of other clubs?

There is a good balance of footballers that can play in different positions.
We have recruited a spine and most already have faith that Bolts and the coaches can develop it.
The only problem with the 2016 group of players now is the level of talent, as it contains so many young kids yet to prove their worth.
This still keeps us at the bottom for the moment.

I think there are far too many short-sighted and narrow-minded supporters, calling players spuds when they have not really been given the opportunity to show what they are capable of doing. And especially given that most of us have not played senior football, I'm not sure we should have a say in the matter.

Going forward, it is not about how talented or how skilful one person can be, but more-so what they can offer that can benefit this club going forward.

Every time I hear somebody say something like 'This player is a dud who wouldn't get a game in any other team', I cringe.

Stop judging on talent and start judging on potential.

I'm going to disagree with you on this point NB.

We have hung on to players way too long because of the promise of "potential" but they never deliver on it purely because they have extreme limitations in their skill level.

If you don't have talent, then you don't have potential and vice-versa.

I'm not denying that there are some players that we can give up on.

Players like Matthew Watson and Robert Warnock who have had plenty of chances to prove themselves had lost my faith.

But I'm speaking about the current crop. We have brought in players from other clubs who were struggling with injuries as well as getting games. Who's to say they won't be good for the blues going forward? They are most likely going to be for the short term, but one or two of them may be around for quite some time.

Complaining about the players we bring in is like judging a book by its cover. You have to wait and see what they bring to the table before you can truly determine whether they are an asset.

When we recruited Liam Jones, I wasn't impressed, nevertheless I gave him an opportunity to see whether he would be good for us, and despite the team's poor performances, he was rarely doing damage on the scoreboard. And him being a forward says that he is not working hard enough.
