When I suggested trading Gibbs people were saying that his leadership is required for the kids. I saw that he showed very little leadership since the Geelong game. So what leadership will he show at 30+ years of age?

If we can get a top ten pick for him then I would do it in a heart beat.

Yeah nah.

Look how bad we are without Murphy..imagine no Gibbs either.

You need good senior mids to show our young mids the way.

To be fair, Prestia is a little damaged at the moment.
That is very true.

And even fully fit I would be concerned about trading our first rounder for a guy who's unlikely to ever be elite. Our first rounder is too much, our second is too little.

Don't Gold Coast also have Melbournes 1st rounder in this years draft?

EDIT: So we could in effect trade pick 4 and Everitt for Prestia and pick 8 or 9ish? Which would allow them to do 4 and 5 (their own) for pick 1 potentially.

We can then turn 9 into Marchbank and 16ish, and then 16 and Touhy into Mitchell.

Our 1st, Everitt and Touhy becomes Mitchell, Prestia and Marchbank.

Why does everyone want to get rid of Touhy. Beautiful kick, quick, durable and Irish.

SOS wasn't afraid to package a few picks up and on trade them for a single, higher pick.

It's not that everyone wants to get rid of him, but he's one of the few we can afford to lose with the view to a structural gain.
We have some quality HBF'ers now and Tuohy may be a ready-made for a club in need of someone like him.

May not happen but the fact he and Casboult have not been rushed with new contracts, starts bringing up questions.

You realise prestia is not even 24 right? And he's a gun. Nothing like our previous top ups.

I honestly we should at least try and draft someone.as good,.if not better in the draft.

From what I ascertained in today's Age article, it would take our first pick to satisfy The Suns (Clayton is no pushover on trading, reckon they fleeced Port for Dixon just quitely), Prestia doesn't strike me as a bloke who'd hold the Suns to ransom and only nominate one club.

100% this.
Reckon we need to find a pick in the teens for him.

And as I have found out today... possibly a relative by adoption :D

My half brother being adopted into a family called Tuohy, who originally came from Ireland :D

Not Zach being adopted into my family... although I would do it in a heart beat :D

Took Masten about 3-4 years to get going IIRC...

With all due respect, Masten is a lay down misere bottom 5 worst player in the league. Name me anyone at Hawthorn or Sydney who butchers the ball as badly as him ??

Priddis is probably a better analogy of someone who started their career slowly and became a very good player over time through hard work and perserverance.

Against Adelaide he was constantly bombing it forward to nobody. Not something you'd want to teach the young players. Doing so because he was afraid of getting tackled.

Against Brisbane he couldn't help Cripps with the clearances, we lost that battle embarrassingly. He played a shocker, only handful of possessions and at 50% disposal efficiency.

Against Pies he was sub par, < 55% disposal efficiency.

Against GWS he was ok but Shiel was bumping him off the ball quite easily. Against Saints he was average. Against Eagles he didn't step up until the last quarter.

And again I'll ask, what way did he show our young kids in Murphy's absence?

I'd say trading our first - 4 or 5 at this rate and Everitt for one of the Suns' mid round firsts and a second would be fair.

No idea the exact value but on paper it could work.

A bit of out-of-contract talent SOS could mine from Adelaide again this year in Atkins, Grigg, Lyons & Wigg. All four can find the ball and use it well, with Atkins and Lyons both currently performing well in the Crows' AFL side.

GWS list mgr just on road to the draft with Cal Twomey and inferred they want Steele to stay and it seems Tomlinson and Marchbank may be checked out already.

2/4 of the GWS 4 looking good.
if Cal Twomey is saying they checked out like Hendo & Yaz did last year to us , It would be Highly unlikely that SOS would looking to bring them to the club now..Carlton is negative nelly free Zone. :footy:

That should always depend on the nature of the discussions between the players and clubs involved.

Yarran forced his way out, while Henderson was the other way around. Both handled it badly. Without knowing what the GWS footy department has had to say to these guys, it's difficult to say if they have an attitude problem.

The results in the NEAFL suggest they still give a shit.
