I think they're hand was pushed by a couple of the players coming out this week and talking about how their future is uncertain and it would be nice to know if they are playing their farewell game or not before the occasion.

I suspect NM already know they have 1 or 2 trades coming in to pull the trigger like that.

Adelaide made similar decisions on Torney & Hart.

We don't have the list demographic problems that North have right now, so there's no need for Adelaide to be making these kinds of decisions in 2016.

I agree with the majority that 3 of them are the right call, but Boomer really does deserve to be kept on for next year. Another club is going to get him ala Stevie J.

There's a difference between what you need to do (ie bare minimum) and doing what is the best for the club. Adelaide made those decisions back then based on what they needed to do. Let's see if we have learnt why we haven't won a premiership for 18 years.

I just think that it's a harsh way to announce it. 3 club greats and they get a "we're de-listing them" announcement? Surely Firrito and Petrie deserved to announce their own retirements??

And the Harvey decision is baffling considering he could go again.

I am conflicted on Harvey. Agree he has been one of their better players but I also look at his age ( yes ageist) and think if there is ever a time to start again then do it with all gone.

Would hate to see Harvey play for another club. Then it becomes about Harvey and not North

Astounded at how poorly they've handled Boomer Harvey here.

That list is flush with blokes in similar positions of their careers respectively and I reckon they could've tapped numerous other players before they tap their games record holder and the bloke who's playing better footy than most of his younger counterparts. I've been an enormous advocate for tapping our Scott Thompson on the shoulder, but that's because the drop off has been significant and we actually have younger counterparts ready to replace - it's not like that with the north list.

I would've kept him in a playing/coaching/mentoring role and focus on bringing through the youth.

Honestly, I don't think this is the right decision regarding Harvey. No, he will not be part of their future or next premiership squad. Yes, he is the oldest man in the game. But he is not a liability in any way, shape or form - he is one of their best players! And I think the games record holder should be allowed to retire on his own terms, with a proper farewell game and with dignity.

Think his manager said that if he doesn't get another contract from North Boomer will retire. Wants to be a one club player.
