If ess bid pick 1, gcs had pick 3 and 9, then gcs would be forced to use pick 3 and some points on pick 9. This would make their pick 9 pick 11. (Assuming 9 is their next pick? )
So they get bowes, and pick 11. Pick 11 could be used on sheer, who knows.
If they traded both, theyd get pick 1, and bowes but have to use a few seconds. It comes down to if they want pick 1 with less seconds, over pick 11 and a few more seconds.
I do think however we would need to add pick 19 in the end..

Pick 1 and a player would work better for the Suns depending on the player say Rockliff for 4 9 and 21 Rockliff still stays in Queensland Suns get a hard inside midfielder and the Lions get an extra second round pick we draft better in the second round any way

Think Daw is worth more than just a 2nd round pick (around pick 30) but can't see any Richmond players North would want.

Realistically we can't ask much unfortunately. We would be looking for a second rounder but a third would probably get it done if he wants out (which I expect he does).

FWIW I think he'll be a capable AFL standard midfielder with a team that can offer him those opportunities. We haven't been able to and as a result many of his AFL games have been sub-par as a forward. I liken him a lot to Ben Kennedy who thrived on the increased role at Melbourne this year. I expect the same to happen with Rat, but I rate him as a better kick.

Please explain why? I think you'll find you have plenty of points for Bowes and Scheer, and you get a McCluggage/SPS/Brodie type on top

Bowes would still be considered with the other top picks ie Brodie and mcluggage. And teams aren't gonna not bid on him around the top 1-3 because you know 100% GC will match.

Bowes putting in good performances rather than great in an allies team when he already has a years worth of very good performances under his belt isn't gonna scare teams off from bidding on him no matter how much you want it to.

You're not using pick 1 to use for points. You're using it to get a Hugh McCluggage/Will Brodie/Sam Petrevski-Seton on top of Bowes and Scheer.

Scheer is absolutely top 20, he's arguably top 10.

Bowes will still be bid on in the first few picks.

I think you're confusing what you want to happen to what will probably happen.

He's kicked 21 so far so lets say he gets to 30 goals for the year and continues his up and down season.

Potentially also OOC at seasons end. What he would be worth to those interested?

Late 2nd/early 3rd, maybe could be used for an upgrade too. Kersten + 4th (or 3rd) for a early 2nd rounder is another option. He's probably worth more to Geelong than on the market.

Fairly big punt on a lot of 'maybes' for a mid 2nd rounder though! Wouldn't you rather just head to the draft...I'm sure you can get someone with more of a footy nous than Daw has.

I tend to agree that his intrinsic value is probably higher to us than the free market.

Given the work thats gone into him, Id much prefer to see him stay.

That is why Geelong will keep him. Every club has a few of these players that outside the club you think 'solid to average', but they do their job each week. Kersten fits that mould, he is solid. However, solid rarely gets you a lot at the trade table unfortunately.

I do think they will look at trading for pick one if they fear Bowes will be bid on.

I said the same thing earlier. It's a win-win both ways.

Bombers get a gun midfielder whilst keeping a good first rounder they can use on a KPF (or anything else necessary)
Suns get the first pick of anyone in the open market, whilst getting extra draft points as some icing on the cake to pay for Bowes and Scheer and boom! Suns have completed a rebuild in an off-season almost.

Callum twomey phantom guide doesn't have scheer in the top 20 at the moment. That could change.. Heaps of things could happen between now and draft night
Twomey is generally on the money when it comes to draft night.
Bowes is at 5 which is where we will end up.
If we trade 3-4-5 and 9 for 1 and pickup someone else other than Bowes how do we afford Bowes and scheer?
