Despite their inability to create a decent World Cup for the top level, the ICC has proven capable of doing so for the Under-19s - probably because they leave it to the people who actually care about cricket, rather than money - and the latest one is underway in Bangladesh, albeit without Australia, who were replaced by Ireland.

There are four groups of four, including nine full members and seven Associates.

Group A: Bangladesh, Namibia, Scotland, South Africa (reigning champions)

Group B: Afghanistan, Canada, Pakistan, Sri Lanka

Group C: England, Fiji, West Indies, Zimbabwe

Group D: India, Ireland, Nepal, New Zealand

Results so far:

Bangladesh 7/240 d. South Africa 193 by 43 runs
England 3/371 d. Fiji 72 by 299 runs
Afghanistan 126 lost to Pakistan 4/129 by 6 wickets
Sri Lanka 6/315 d. Canada 119 by 196 runs
India 9/286 d. Ireland 189 by 79 runs
Nepal 7/238 d. New Zealand 206 by 32 runs

I was just looking at some of the warm up match scores, and India beat Canada by 372 runs after making 6/485 with 3 batsman retired out . Must have been playing on the same ground where that kid made 1000.

On Monday, Nepal played their first televised match in the U-19 World Cup, against India. And soon after their captain Raju Rijal’s profile picture had popped up on screen, the phone lines were buzzing in the Mumbai cricket circles. There was only one question on everyone’s lips. “Is Raju Rijul actually Raju Sharma, the one who captained Mumbai’s U-15 team a decade ago?”

Javed Khan and Kaustub Pawar, two Mumbai cricketers, were startled to see the close-up of their captain from the U-15 days on screen playing for Nepal. They recognised their old team-mate along with his batting stlye and were puzzled about how Raju, who was their contemporary and should be about 25 years of age, is playing the U-19 World Cup. Pawar was moved enough to even post his incredulousness on his Facebook page. “In Mumbai Raju Sharma, In Nepal Raju Rijal,” wrote Pawar who added. “We played together in under 15 for Mumbai and now he is captain of Nepal Under 19 team and we others are 24-25 age respectively.” He hashtagged that post with #SaveCricket #Shame.

kid scored in Bombay india while WC u19 played in Bangladesh.well anyway indian batsman so far hits out big scores vs weaker bowling but their real test on febuary 8th vs lanka

I think England team tuff to beat. Pakistan also good bowling side besides lanka

well my friend, late jayaprakash Narayan scored 314 before tea in school cricket years ago in india, in final.i think media gave too much publicity of Dhanawade's 1009 real story was different, Dhana is 16 years old and he suppose to plays vs under 16 but they have exam so highschool principal request under 12 to plays vs dhanawades school, that is how record created.

Bowler hadn't entered his delivery stride, batsman wasn't trying to gain an advantage. While I'm usually pro-mankad, this one's a bit poor.

Disgusting, especially in a youth tournament. They should be ashamed of themselves.

Then here is an idea...don't go out of your crease. Why should bowlers be disadvantaged because batsmen think it is their right to get out of the crease early. I'm glad they did it!
