LDU is my preference as I like that he has unlimited x-factor and IMO has the highest ceiling of the top 3, over Dow and Rayner.
If we can't get LDU then I would prefer Stephenson over Cerra. Provided Dow and Rayner are taken. I think we already have many similar Cerra type players in the squad.

Stephenson has the pace, run and carry and X-factor to burn that our midfield desperately needs. I agree with posters his kicking isn't there, yet he is accurate in front of goal..... perhaps, given he's a good kick in front of goal I believe that he has the ability to be a good kick on the run as his kicking technique in front of goal looks sound.
My only concern with Stephenson is his light frame. It could take a good 2-3 years to develop an AFL body.

North desperately lack a game breaker - match winner - game turner, I believe this is the main reason we didn't progress beyond the prelims in 14/15.

It's time for North to be bold again this year with their top 2 selections. Our first pick last year was risky, given Simpkin's injury but the correct one.

Time to be bold again North, not safe. For mid table awaits the safe path. High risk high reward for me. Irrespective of where we finish on the ladder if you don't win the big one the you're just purely making up the numbers.

Sam Walsh (29 disposals, seven inside-50s) and Cassidy Parish (27, six clearances) were constants ball-winners for the victors, while Cooper Stephens (14 disposals) provided valuable rebound from the back line and his co-captain James Worpel (14 disposals, six tackles) grunt in the contests.

For the Dragons, Kai Owens nearly became the match-winner with three of Sandringham’s four final-term goals, Bailey Smith (25 disposals, five rebound-50s) and Geordie Nagle (24 disposals, 10 marks) provided plenty of drive from defence, and Charlie Constable (23 disposals, five clearances) and Andrew Brayshaw (21 disposals, 10 tackles) were prime movers through the midfield.

If we choose Cerra while losing Mountford, we may possible have the most boring team ever in the AFL.

4 is a good pick. My preference is still LDU but I think he'll go top 2. We'll get a very good player with whoever we choose. Could well be Brayshaw.

I think you are right. LDU suits us. But can not seeing him being there at our pick. As you say go bold. No hard inside mids. Would go for Stephenson for a bit of X factor. Plus with a team of Atley Josh Williams + Stephenson we would hive a team with some real pace.

Watched the TAC Cup Grand final on replay was last night. Was quite a high quality game, really enjoyed it.

Obvious standouts were:

Geelong:

Gryan Miers - Kid is a gun, has been pretty consistent this year and took his game to another level in the grand final. His pressure was immense along with his work rate. Makes the most of his chances and has quality finishing skills. Looks eerily similar to Luke Dahlahaus and plays like him too. Pretty solid overhead which I hadn't noticed previously watching him play.

Cassidy Parish - Bull. Won a shit tonne of centre clearances, knows how to get his hands free in the contest. Solid handball but kicking needs a bit of work. Not that he ever kicks that often. He is a little bit on the slow side but still gets to every contest. Tackles hard and uses his bulk around the ground.

James Worpel - Didn't get as much of the footy as he has done previously, but was solid when he did get it. Strong in the contest and strong overhead, Seems like a real leader. Like Parish he uses his bigger body well around the contest. His kicking has vastly improved since his underage year when I seen him live last. Think he'll be in calculations for a top 15 pick. He is a going to be and big strong lad given a few pre-seasons.

Sam Walsh - Had 30 odd touches and looked mature beyond his years. Composed and gave the Falcons some real dash through the midfield. Uses the ball well and never looked out of his league despite being a bottom ager. Ran really hard both defensively and offensively, kept his feet in just about every contest. I hadn't seen much of him up until this point, but from that small sample size he is going to be a top prospect for next year.

Matthew Ling - Wasn't a standout but I thought I'd do a write up because I thought he may come into calculations around our 2nd or 3rd pick based on previous performances. Showed his trademark dash on occasions but didn't get involved as much as I would of liked. Had his hands full on occasions with Kai Owens. His kicking was still elite.

Sandringham:

Charlie Constable - Really Solid all round footballer. Runs hard both ways and stepped up when the game was on the line. Tackled hard, and his presence around the contest was always good. Played on Worpel for a lot of the game, and probably beat him in the contest and around the ground. Managed to sneak forward and kick a couple of goals. Is a player that really does nothing wrong. This issue with him is that he has no real standout physical features (other than his size at TAC cup level). I'd be pretty confident that he will be a 150 game player at AFL level though.

Andrew Brayshaw - Gun. Much more rounded than his brother Angus. Has a bit more toe, and gets on the outside to contribute a bit more. He reads the ball off the hands so well, and has elite decision making. Works extremely hard when he doesn't have the ball. Tackles like he means it and always puts pressure on the ball carrier. Will be a top 10 pick now I would've thought. Lots of leadership potential as well.

Hamish Brayshaw - Bit bigger and a dash stronger in the contest than his brother Andrew. Didn't have as much of the footy, but like his brother his defensive pressure is elite. Should get drafted even though he is an over-ager. I feel as though he could be a player who could play round 1 this year.

Kai Owens - We aren't really in the market for a half forward, but really liked what this kid has to offer. Speedy half forward who works up the ground and has really nice skills. Goes in hard and protects the ball drop really well when playing inside forward 50.

I agree. Speaking of brothers i wouldn't mind us having a look at mccartin with a late pick. Plagued with injury. Haven't seen the best of him yet.

Parish knows it and very rarely kicks, he is quite good by hand however.

Worpel has improved out of sight with his kicking this year, I think at AFL level it will reach the point of acceptable but he'll never be damaging by foot. Which you can accept if he is in there winning the hard ball.

Matt Crouch was a bog average kick at junior level as well.

I think it's easier to clean up a players kicking to an average level, than to try and implant the footy IQ to amass big possession games.

I'd like Cassidy with our last pick. Worpel is a chance for our second, but I don't think he's the right fit tbh.

With Worpel having such an early birthday and being an absolute beast already, I'd worry that his strong contested work is just a product of him being more physically developed than his peers.

Haven't really seen him show a point of difference yet besides his size.

Considering we have previously poached and bid on Qld academy players, I hope we have had a look at Connor Nutting from the Suns academy/Broadbeach.

It probably 188-190cm, can play on the ball, back and forward. Has great pace, marks cleanly with a good leap, nice kick and has a real x-factor.

Played as a mobile CHF for Broadbeach in a qualifying final due to other injuries and kicked 4, including an absolute belter. Has played NEAFL for the Suns as well, just a really well balanced kid who goes anywhere on the field. Would be a late/rookie pick.
