The amazing thing with Steele is that he ran a 3.00 sec 20m sprint at his combine, so he actually has speed there, and perhaps it will show up more when he has another preseason or two of fitness under his belt. Maybe like how Mav's speed just appeared out of no-where all of a sudden in that game against Richmond a couple of years ago, when he kicked that ripper goal on the run!
I'm really bullish about him though. He's already well ahead of the likes of Seb or Armo at the same age, and did it this year off a minimal preseason and in his first year playing midfield at AFL Level, so I reckon he's going to be bloody good by about 2019, once he's learned to win more clearances and is spreading and kicking more. Lots of scope for improvement there.
The only knock I’ve heard is since Clark was moved into the midfield his disposal efficiency took a considerable hit, which when he played down back was his point of difference being highly skilled & duel sided.
If anything he looks like an all rounder similarly to Brayshaw. They both do everything well but dont have an elite trait that really stands out & smacks you in the face like Dow & LDU with their power at stoppages & Cerra with his sublime touch & skills in the contest.
Farren Ray is a very good comparison. Clark similarly to Ray seems to effortlessly eat up territory with the laconic but long strides he makes when running with the footy. Ray probably a better mark, Clark a better decision maker who looks to lower his eyes more often than not & spot up shorter targets.
I reckon right now odds would have two Dandy Stingrays kids being selected at 7 & 8 - I feel it’s almost time to roll out the welcome mat to Clark & Bonar.

I think you’ll be disappointed then George. Can’t see any situation at all where either Cerra or Brayshaw are available at pick 7. Would have to be a miracle.
More the merrier. I aint a shit campaigner like barrels mate [emoji14] [emoji12]I think im in love.
Hey Joffaboy any seats left on the hunter bandwagon?
If we can get Clark and Freeman into our midfield next year.... orgasmic.
Good times.
Let's draft the G-train. Truly a golden age as a St.Kilda supporter.
All hail G-Truck!Said g'day to fraze at the races derby day
I was surprised just how fit he still looks. And he is a freaking monster!
#7 Hunter Clark...... or Cerra if he slides (less likely now with Stephensons health concern)
Both well balanced Mids with quality kicking decision making. Cerra has not been as durable as Clark with injury issues worth noting. Clark can run and carry and is tough in the contest and applying defensive pressure. Has a bit of the Bont about him the way he moves at times and how easily he can go in and scoop the ball up in a contested situation then get his arms up in the air moving through traffic. Unusual combination of a smooth operator and a hard nosed competitor. Versatile, can play all three lines. Suited midfielder in the Red White & Black
#8 Nicholas Coffield.........or Bonar, Stephenson (if the Coff is off the board)
Saints need to make good kicking a priority and adding Coffield along with Clark addresses that. Im more interested in a player who can hit up targets consistently and open up the opposition with his laser kick as opposed to a speed demon who dashes down the wing like Usain Bolt and kicks it straight to the other team. Hawthorn built a formiddable team around elite kicking hardly ever winning the contested possession count, they cut you up with skill class. Clark and Coffield are both fast as it is especially Coffield (2.91s 20m sprint). Coffield can definitely transition to a Midfielder full time and has proven that already.

Good times.
I reckon Fogerty is the one at 10..I reckon this is a likely result for the Saints withstanding a slider like Stephenson/Cerra (unlikely). It would be a good one too, would love either at 10.
I don't think Bonar is the right choice, seems a similar type to Steele. Both Coffield and Clark have the versatility, speed and kicking skills that make a perfect fit with both likely to start off a wing or HBF. The key is whether you think they will transfer into the midfield full time as they develop, Clark being more likely to do so IMO. If they both do then you're laughing.
With the Saints well placed in the draft, it's going to be an exciting year next year.
Good luck on Friday, can't wait for "the slider" to reach pick 10 and come to Carlton.![]()

I know. I’m watching the last quarter now.FB: Baker - Penny - Hudghton
HB: Blake - Maguire - Jones
RK: Knobel - [redacted] - Powell
CR: Clarke - Hayes - Dal Santo
HF: Guerra - Riewoldt - Hamill
FF: Milne - Gehrig - Koschitzke

By why remind us of this?! How this team never won a flag - or even made a Grand Final - is a source of never-ending rage to me.
Check the edit. See who was missing!I know. I’m watching the last quarter now.
Next Friday will subside that just a tad.
What makes you confident about Clark mg ??Elite ripping post.
Zero chance they play Round 1.If we were to get Coffileld and Stephenson which is a good possibility, both would slot in nicely for round one I reckon.
Geary - Austin - Webster
Coffield - Carlisle - Roberton
Sinclair - Ross - Acres
Billings - Bruce - Stephenson
Gresham - McCartin - Membrey
Longer - Steele - Steven
Dunstan, Newnes, Stevens, Savage
Zero chance? That’s a big call mate.Zero chance they play Round 1.
