No standouts means its a lottery.. as you say many project well but i dont want to take the gamble. Give me Kelly for 3 please
For me, it means I want them get invested in the top 40, and pick 3 might be the cleanest way to do that if Kelly isn't on the table.

You might not see very high ceilings on some of the higher-rated prospects, but I also see some guys in the 15-40 range whose minimum standard is above average in AFL terms. With scope for improvement, that's a great prospect for a team like us that needs to expand its midfield stable substantially.

Bishop is a prominent poster on the draft board.

He watches lots of junior footy and posts extensive write ups of potential draftees.

I like him; he doesn't follow the consensus and makes his own judgements. Seems to pick up on minor traits that others miss. Plus I think he rated SPS at #1 at one point last year and was bullish on Fisher so I assume he is super accurate. :p

Hmmmm, seem to have mixed up Bishop with Quigley on the SPS/Fisher stuff, but the rest still stands.

Both of them worth reading on the draft board if you want to read more about the draft prospects.

Quigley rates SPS as the best player of the 2016 crop.

He/she can consider me a friend.

Seen plenty of Rayner as a junior at Hillside. Runs a bad beep because he packed on plenty of kgs in the last 2 years and is just getting used to his body size. I'd say he'll the same trajectory as Petracca rather than Dusty.
Is he a good kid RT?

Quigley posts the most detailed write ups of any poster on the D&T board. Always worth a read around draft time.

My god Roughsedge has no ability to apply force through his lower legs. Most players wouldn't be picked in this kind of condition. He should be doing physio, not 120 minutes of football.

Penrith has a similar issue, as he looks like he's on skates when he tries to kick shortly after changing direction a pace. That explains almost all of his kicking issues on its own. Can very much be fixed, and his work rate is otherwise exceptional.

Charlie Thompson (#7 for Oakleigh) with some great skills that quarter; they have a great engine room and use the footy so well. That's the real difference between the two sides so far.

Will be interesting to see if Northern grind their way back into the contest with their outside run and rebound off HB in the second half.

I like this draft for us, really good quality at pick 3. Hope we get another pick inside the top 25 as well

If we traded Gibbs for 9 & 2nd rounder then got LDU & Stephenson I would be extremely happy. Add Kennedy/Smith (Adelaide 2nd round plus Griffen salary dump) & Balic (Boekhurst) then 4-5 SOS special picks I will be very happy. Use rookie draft to add some mature "role" type players. Maybe we can find a Hugh Greenwood type, dynamic small forward, tough back pocket and a big raw ruck.

Roughsedge's first step is working its way into his game; hopefully by the end of the finals series he shows a bit more explosive power. I doubt he's 186 cms either as he tends to be shorter than most midfielders in footage I've seen.

Charlie Thompson's an interesting one, and I suspect he'll go up the draft boards if his string of form continues; beautiful kick. My only knock is that he probably needs to improve his core compared to the rest of his conditioning work; has a touch of the Robinson/Darling look about him that tends to hurt your acceleration and change of direction as you progress in senior ranks. Looks top 30 for mine.

You can see why Coffield and Naish are rated top 20: great athletes with good skills and decision making.

Richards has quite the shock of hair and looks a really solid option for a rebounding defender, but probably not quite top 30 material.

Penrith's endurance testing will be interesting to see at the combine, because there was a huge opportunity for him to play outside midfield in this match if the coach was willing. Does well with the ball in his area, but perhaps lacks the ability to really get up the field, though I put some of this down to him being used in deep roles when playing at either end. Maybe he can get a nod for one of the U18 rep games and get trialled there, but at this stage he's probably cementing himself as a late pick project, but one with real talent and application.

Wooller's kicked a few but is very meat and potatoes as a marking option up forward, maybe a tad undersized for the role at AFL level, but is dynamic enough at ground level to be considered a medium option.

Speaking of meat, Petruccelle has none. Exciting player but he'll need a lot of work in the gym.

Not that keen on LDU at 3 or Stephenson at 9, but yes, does give us great options. I believe SOS will be very active come trade week

Was meant to be a 2:15 PM bounce, but late start at the moment:

2017 Notable Prospects:
Dandenong
- Bonar, Clark, Davies-Uniacke, Clavarino
Eastern - Garner, Hayes, Stephenson, Stoddart, Moore, Ross

Cerra is part of the Eastern list, but hasn't played since July.

Quigly wrote a whole paragraph about Fisher (pre-draft) dedicated to how he holds the ball in his hands. I had no idea what he was talking about at the time. Thought it was him just trying to outdo the other phantomers.

Then you watch Fisher play and you see it. Fisher picks the ball up with ease and he runs with the ball held out in front of him, with an unusual grip.

I think he uses it to give him an extra moment to get rid of the ball when in traffic / being tackled.

Amazing insight.
