2017 Draft - Pick 30

Little chance bb would be interested in worpel
Not having a go at you, but I’m gunna have a go at this premise - the one that B.B. has the say over the playing list. Remember a certain trade just gone - B. Gibbs. Senor BB didn’t want Gibbs gone, but SOS did. SOS builds the list, BB coaches what he has. Sure he’ll have some input, but at the end of the day, the fullback of the century knows what this team needs as much if not more than BB. We will have picked up two quality kids early, 30 is the chance to pick the slider. As I said, Worpels kicking ain’t that bad, Dow is on a similar level. He has leadership, inside skills, tackling, nous, can impact the scoreboard, is the quintessential slider IMO, and, I’d rather have the ball, than chase the ball. We have some good quicks, but they need the ball. We don’t get the ball enough, we need to fix that aspect first.

I grew up with a 6ft poster of SOS on my bedroom wall, so my love for the great man is endless.. however if we have put all our faith with 1 man to make all the decisions for the club then we are more fcked that i thought. SOS will be getting input from Bolton and the rest of the coaching team, all the recruiting team to make the list management decisions. BB would have wanted Gibbs to stay but also knows we are playing the long game, Bolton just wanted to be comforted by the board that his KPIs would be reflected based on losing one of his top players.

We'll see ☺

Just been salivating over clips of Liam Ryan...what’s the knock on this kid? he’s 21 so a young mature recruit, pace to burn, very good hands, kicks lots of goals and genuinely reminds me of Eddie Betts playing.

Certainly fills a position in the team that needs filling, aboriginal magic that is made for afl footy.

He’s my second choice if Kelly is gone already.
Massive flight risk, has already told interstate recruiters that if he is drafted he expects the club to bring his extended family over and no guarantee that he will hang around.
This is straight from the mouth of a recruiter from a Victorian team.

I reckon if taken Worpel turns into another Matt Crouch, who also had slightly suspect kicking when first drafted.
I think recruiters have been watching this kid front and center for two years. I think they've seen so much of him, and so much was expected, that his weaknesses have been magnified while his strengths that caught peoples eyes originally are old news.

Yeah he has flaws but what he does best is elite. You can't say the same about many from this draft.

Little chance of guessing who we'll take at #30, but maybe a chance of guessing who we won't

It won't be a KPD.
It won't be a ruckman.
KPF? Doubt there would be much of value here.
We would have likely taken our best mids at #3 and possibly #10

Left with a lively small/mid-sized forward or a pacy small/mid-sized back-man. Just have to work it out from there then. :)
What do you think of Zac Bailey at pick 30 HARKER? Fast, goal kicking inside mid. Reckon he'd be a good fit for us.

Using my deduction, I'll say that we'll take either Miers, Moore or maybe even Houlahan at #30
Think it will somehow be a forward as Mullett may see us through for any gaps we may have in our backline.
Using my deduction - I have no ******* idea.

Speaking of a Houlahan. That's something I think we miss a bit, especially now Gibbs has gone, a Ryan Houlihan type - some silk finishing through half forward.

There'll be better players than those three around at 30.

I really have no idea who we'll take, but there does seem as though there will be some interesting players around our #30.
Best guess would be that it will be a smallish player and one capable of kicking goals, for the reason I put forward.

Someone did mention that we are keen on Stoddart, also.
Moore, Miers, Stoddart, Houlahan, Bailey...............Kelly?

I wouldn't complain about any of those guys for us at this pick, but who knows? Who has the best character?
Still confident we take O'Shea in the rookie draft, so like you said, we should be right in that area of the field.

We lack quality midfield depth and scoring options. Maybe 30 is early for Moore and Miers the more I think about it.

Despite their kicking issues I'd actually look at Worpel and then Petruccelle if they last. Heck, we've tolerated Kerridge in the midfield long enough and Worpel is much tidier than him and has leadership credentials. Petruccelle would be a big judgement call, his highlights are amazing but a lot of work has to be put in and maybe pick 30 should be a bit safer.

Lachy Fogarty is a long shot but he's the ideal pick 30

Bolton loves him.
