I feel like we're starting to build up some nice depth in our squad now. If we do keep pick 1 (rather than downgrading it) then I'd like for us to select a player with superstar potential - one who'll be a game changer in 5 years time when we're aiming for the top end of the ladder. A Dangerfield, Fyfe, Dusty type who can take over a game and be a genuine match winner. Whether that be Rayner, Stephenson or LDU I'm not sure, but I feel that's what we're lacking.

They've got another game in 5 days time so the Vic Metro coaching staff might rest Rayner for the rest of the game rather than risk injury. I haven't seen him on the field since he kicked his 5th.

Rayner might have white line fever fitness just not great on the track but can find that bit extra when needed in a game.

There was quite a lot saying that Petracca needed to improve his fitness and it was a bit of a knock on him.
Look at what he has developed into. If you have the commitment to succeed then he will get there over time in the system.

Yeah Rayner is Dusty/Petracca esque.

Watched at Etihad...until third of game 2,and was able to compare notes with one of our Fitzroy champs,now a spotter,and until recently, head of Vic Country operations.First....check out Paddy Dow,Bendigo mob ,don't know how high he ranks in our scheme, but he is of interest I'm informed. We were both very disappointed with the Country side....they are disadvantaged in training terms and played like it.There would have been about 10 W.A players better on the day,but that of course wont translate into picks.The Hyphen,and Worpel,are not line breakers,and had big problems keeping with their opposition, their best work being at stoppages or set pieces.Personally, I dont think we need another Berry or Mathieson, therefore Raynor, who is really multi faceted, is of more interest to me.Similarly,Rankine...a gun,but under age.Stephenson, is definitely one who adds value and would have attracted more money after today.His strength over the ball is ,I'm told,of some concern, but not unduly.Higgins ,is v.g.and played on ball a good deal,there were many terrific talents all over the field,and this was a very strong team,I think stronger than last year's winners. There is more to happen ...Several candidates at least for number one spot .Was also told quote,Ballendon, has a long way to go..though, it doesn't mean we're disinterested. Raynor, and /or Stephenson moved ahead today .

No idea what depth it has but with our picks we're getting some good kids.

Just from reading Bishop's thread, the apparent worry is more that Rayner just has poor endurance- not so much his fitness as a whole. Dusty + Petracca both ran beep tests in the 14s, whereas Rayner's may have been in the 11s earlier this year.

Moves very well. Kinda glides across and is pretty smart with his running. His class impressed me but I would've liked him to just get it a touch more. Overall tho I really liked him
