I think it's a case of 'Sign for two years on decent money, and then decide if you really want to hit free agency hard'.

GWS also seems to want to keep a band of players all earning about the same - it's not worth losing, say, Shiel and Coniglio to keep Kelly.
Ah yeah fair enough then. Kelly being a FA in 2 years would rely on eligibility changing though

Over on one of the Crows threads was a post, I'm assuming from a journo, suggesting Hopper to a Victorian club next season, but didn't know which one. What are you guys hearing RE: Hopper?

Check out the last 3 pages on the North Kelly thread.
Someone said there's a presser tomorrow and they got slightly jumpy lol

That's funny. Took them a page and a half of "The sky is falling!!!" posts before someone asked the first question that came straight to my mind - "When is the weekly presser with the coach"

it's probably just to talk about the Essendon game, if indeed he is the one to front the media.

Gotta love a good melt though.:)

Im trying this new age "polite" thing

A big part of it is we've been through five years of the whole 'will he sign ?' thing.

We've been through it and past it. If Kelly wants to be a Giant, he will be. If he doesn't want to be, then we'll trade him for draft picks, and roll the dice again, just like we did with Treloar, and McCarthy, and Boyd.

On the other hand, Norf supporters are pinning their hopes and dreams on a ticket in the Great Kelly Raffle.

I'm really not sure if him signing with us or the Sainters would crush them more.

Yep.

Look if he goes i cant blame him for whats on offer.

We would probably lose Smith if he stays i would say.

If he stays with us for less they would be crushed

But if he brushs them for the saints the norths board implodes.

We've had our hearts broken too many times.

Pls just let us have Josh. :(

The year we traded pick 9 and a player to Melbourne for the pick that got Josh Kelly, North Melbourne had pick five.

If North had wanted, that pick five and just about any player from your list could have got him.

So dont whine to us when your club ****s up by refusing to do deals.

With the first real rotundo fracasso byes this weekend you would hop the CBA has been finalised and the clubs and players are aware and they are just waiting for the best moment tô released the details
It could be the club will hopefully make group announcements for the players contracts of maybe 3/4 players
The injuries tô Smith and Hopper haven't happened at the best time for this

All the best for Downie as well, and wish him a spect recovery
I am sure the boys will support him however they can and although the record is short in games he had over 5 years at the club and was a member of the first draft for the giants

Nah, these clubs just dont want to put the effort into development and instead just go after players once they are ready to rock and roll.

Poor and lazy really.

If he stays with you, well and good, we had a crack.

If he goes to St Kilda I'll kill his dog.

Have to say, I really don't understand why he did that presser. Why he or the club did it. Was never going to put anything to rest. Would have been better off saying nothing IMHO.

Nothing against Josh, I love what he's brought to the club & if he re-signs I'll be ecstatic; if he goes, I'll be philosophical because it's $ he really can't turn down.

Have to say, I really don't understand why he did that presser.

Maybe because he's been named player of the month by the aflpa and is coming off another monster game? He's the logical choice and it's not the first presser he's done since the offer was made public and he answered the questions this time pretty much the same way he answered them last time.

Ahh, hadn't seen that about AFLPA player of the month. When did that start? First one I've ever heard. I'd agree, that's why he probably did it. (I'd also note that I haven't been able to see the actual PC, as NBN here is playing up & won't play anything at the moment.) Thanks for that info.

No idea, never heard about it either until it was mentioned on AFL360 tonight so I went and looked it up. Seems to be new to me. Matthews, Healy, Judd and Tim Watson pick six players and then the players vote. Mr Smooth beat Dangerfield and Martin to take out the May (rnds 6-10) vote. Rory Sloan won for Mar/Apr.

all those who win are automatically nominated for the MVP at the end of the year, which, again, I don't recall from previous years, which is what makes me think it's new.

Not sure if anyone would be able to answer this but any news on the changes to the rookie/senior list changes and how it will be next year?
Or is their a forum where this would be discussed?
Thanks
