My Dad played for North and his cousin played for them with his son being a premiership player too (who I asked). The word on Mullet is that he has beautiful disposal but injuries have robbed him of much of his contested game. They think that he'll free Doc to play more midfield which seems to be the plan Bolton and co are moving towards.

Simpson not here much longer.
Byrne has injury concerns to wade through.
Williamson looks great.

Depth chart falls away very quickly.

Yep, good backup for that position as required for the list. Wouldn’t be surprised if we go for another in the draft.

Hunter Clark could fill the void with midfielder duties too.

See who else is coming in from the DFA’s, think there’ll be another (still nothing in A.Miles signing on yet?), Tom Lamb for mine if all above board.

Hopefully a Cat B signing too.

Over the moon the club has finally started getting rid off the soft wishy washy players! Mullet will be a great pick up! Maybe allow doc to play full time mid! There are some bloody good players left in the DFA hope we grab a few! Lamb,Kennedy,Lennon,Ramsay,Mckenzie,Harrington, just to name a few

I’m a little disappointed you were never nominated for father/son.

Not sure of the fascination to turn the games best HBF into a midfielder whilst replacing him down back with Aaron Mullet
Probably more wing / 7th defender than going into the centre square.

Also Simpson played arguably his best footy on the wing, especially the first few weeks of 2012. A move back there could be on the cards

hate to break it to you but if you don't like 'soft wishy washy players' you'll definitely not like Mullett. he's the epitome of what you outlined

Still, everybody agrees our #1 strength is our Defense and have pretty much covered, whether running or KP players.
Our main and most glaring weakness has been our midfield and offense obviously and was apparent in many games this year, so we need to rectify that fairly quickly if we actually want to start WINNING games as opposed to just providing good competition (albeit based on a well coached defensive gameplan).
In line with that I wouldve preferred someone like Gibson over Mullet (maybe no-one thought he'd be traded as he was also delisted) but if can free up one of the other guys to play middle/foward i'm on board:)

To be fair, the 2014 draft was pretty thin gruel after Boeky. Not many winners out of this lot.

Looking like a terrible draft...possibly the worst in a decade or more.

The names called before Boekhorst at 19 aren't flash either...includes illustrious players such as McCartin, Ahern, Darcy Moore, Cockatoo, Duggan, Corey Ellis, Jarrod Garlett, Durdin & Langford...

Boeky at pick 50's or 60's as speculative project type I can stomach but at pick 19 was pissing early round pick down the drain.
No argument about the pick 7 trade, although has anyone seen Paul Ahern lately?

No way Simmo goes back on a wing at his age.

I like the Mullett pick up but hopefully he is no more than a backup. No more than 3-4 of Simmo, Doch, Byrne, Willo and Mullet in the 22

I know right, but he is new so people get excited???????
Dude was soft as butterscotch your spot on!
This is the desperation level we are now at!
Just wait he'll be our new boot sinker-inerer, 12 months on "he's a hack!" Lol

Time will tell if Boeky does well at another club, but he is unlucky

Yes actually, Mullet is yet another Defender!!
Mullet down back, Docs in the middle, end of story
Disagree with Doc in the middle, was tried and not as successful last year- like him as General (hopefully soon Captain) directing play from half back

Tall defence is covered but I still believe we lack run and smal defenders. As for Mids Gibson was already traded. We brought in Kennedy & Lang and our first 2 picks will almost certainly be mids plus we have more picks. Patience

Bolts & Co won't let it happen.

Doc only played midfield last year because we were so thin in that area with injuries and our list in general PLUS im sure it was for development for the future...eg our defence learning to function without Doc in case he gets injured and for Doc to learn another position.

I'm sure though it's just contingency and something we may do for like a quarter in a game, but Doc will predominately play as a defender where he is AA quality.

Fans imagination.
Think Doch will be AA level half backer for a good decade.
He can pinch hit in midfield but that is where it ends as he is an elite defender you play there for a reason to have a strong backline.

You are largely correct.

The midfield/forward line isn't going to be addressed through DFA, though. That's what first round picks are for, elite midfield/forward talent.
