Can't crack the Port team but would easily be one of the Doggies best?
Talk is he was dropped because he had agreed to leave. Been easily best 22 for 5-6 years

I think we have to understand that we'll have money we have to spend.
Who knows how we'll do that, but in the bigger picture, it may have to come into account.
Today, I'm looking forward to Kelly in Navy Blue.![]()
The more and more I think about it the more I want Kelly or similar in 1 or 2 years. We still lack depth and need to keep turning our list over. Young talent especially through the midfield is what we need. It's the draft for me
in 2018-19 go after a Kelly or a McLuggage or a Taranto types. There ability will be more obvious and we will have the cash
If Kelly can be get, whilst still hanging onto a premium pick, this year or next, then SOS would have done an amazing job.
Talents such as Kelly don't come about too often and if one feels that all the work seems as though it will pay off, you're a little less likely to want to put it to bed and take another chance next year or the one after.
We may not want to be 'that' club that has to be seen to be doing something for supporters sake, sponsors sake, memberships sake etc.........but there will be pressures there, nonetheless.
We also have a lot of money we have to spend. That can't be discounted, either. We've planned for this moment, so if it's there, what do we do?

Not an easy answer is it. Would be very happy with Kelly but I lean towards patience and continuing to build a very strong base and depth first. Will help with "long term sustainable success".
I agree with you by far and large, but we're not in the drivers seat.
The CFC cannot allow falling membership numbers and a drop-off in sponsorship interest and dollars.
Not suggesting that we'd be panicking but there would be pressure on MLG and Trigg to 'perform'
He's been hopeless this year.Talk is he was dropped because he had agreed to leave. Been easily best 22 for 5-6 years
I really don't think that is an issue. If people can see a path and we stick to it they will be happy. Sponsorship and membership is up and believe it is because we finally have a direction and a happy and positive club. In 2-3 years we will be challenging for finals. Even this year we finished bottom 3 but most would be happy with kids and future.
I think it is so much more important that the club stick to the path and are patient. The 66 game List rebuild looking to "long term sustainable success". Change that and look to quick fixes and they will lose all credibility. What has been achieved in the past 2 years is so impressive. My opinion is stay the path, it will pay off big time
Get the team right and memberships/sponsorship will take care of itself.
Well yes, but you need players to make the team 'right'
That's the point and the sooner you get it right, the more focused the organisation becomes.
However getting Kelly now doesnt mean we are deviating from the path does it ?I really don't think that is an issue. If people can see a path and we stick to it they will be happy. Why 2 ?Not totally but it will cost us at least 2 very talented kids
Why 2 ?
Kelly is young v 2 first rounders thats 1 youngun sacrificed ?
Maybe thats why people are hesitant with the rebuild looking at the cost instead of the net result . And im not just talking about 1 trade but 2 years of net results . I have no problem in the club spending 2 first rounders for Kelly . The reason is that our club has done a fantastic job in bringing in talent over the past 2 years especially last year at little cost . I dont begrudge them for paying up for a talent like Kelly .That's the net position not the cost
Kelly could cost us Rayner/Dow & a Taranto/SPS for example. What is better? I really rate Kelly and wouldn't be unhappy if we got him but I'm not fussed if we don't.

Yep he will decide for us anywayAs I said I wouldn't be unhappy with either. My gut feel is given our position (lack of depth) that 2 talented kids (maybe even 3) may be better than just Kelly. Not an easy answer as Kelly is a special talent. Whatever happens we will be fine
Jake Spencer has been delisted from Melbourne, could be solid back-up in the ruck.
Yet to play a full season of footy in WA, where he could win most ruck contests just by standing there.Doubtful after we invited Jones to the WAFL draft combine.
22 yo 200cms+ and 109kgs, takes a good grab AND converts!
AmenI think we have to understand that we'll have money we have to spend.

You forget that East Perth is the affiliate for the WCE so he has had to be managed with Petrie, Lycett, Giles, Vardy, McInnes, etc.Yet to play a full season of footy in WA, where he could win most ruck contests just by standing there.
My concerns are his general fitness and running capacity. You forget that East Perth is the affiliate for the WCE so he has had to be managed with Petrie, Lycett, Giles, Vardy, McInnes, etc.
Has had injuries but stats don't always tell the whole story.
Youtube his highlights and you will see that he converts better than most on our list, including one who I will refrain from mentioning! LOL
It's not really about the fifty thousand odd members it's about building it and not falling behindI really don't think that is an issue.
