aside from judd and a busted thomas we just seem to be shit at attracting big names currently - hopefully things will improve with increased wins

No other clubs have this year either. We did land Marchbank last year. In a year or two I expect a lot of players to want to jump on the Carlton bandwagon

This year is another for youth

Thoughts on this scenario

Trade No. 1
Gibbs > Adelaide
Pick 10 (Via Dees for Lever) + Adelaide's 2018 Third round pick > Carlton

Trade No. 2
Pick 3 + Pick 10 + Adelaide's 2018 Third round Pick > St. Kilda
Pick 7 + Pick 8 + St. Kilda 2018 First round Pick > Carlton

St. Kilda takes a very small hit in draft points (Loss of the equivalent of a 50+ pick depending on 2018 ladder) in order to get a premium pick, Carlton shuffle their picks around so that we can obtain St. Kilda's 2018 first rounder to use in trade or to strengthen their position in the first round of 2018's promising first round.

Trade No. 3
Pick 8 + Pick 38 > Brisbane Lions
Pick 12 + Pick 18 > Carlton

Carlton strengthens is position in the top 20 of the draft, sacrificing a top ten selection in order to gain another top 20 pick, there will be at least one of Brayshaw, Forgarty, Constable, Higgins or Coffield available at pick 12, who we may have taken at pick 8 regardless, but by doing this trade we will buy ourselves another shot at the draft before the drop off in talent that many predict will happen by the late second round/third round.

Trade No. 4
St. Kilda 2018 first round pick > WCE
Gaff > Carlton

Carlton get a mature mid who is ready to contribute day one. While he is only 25, he is an asset that will help mitigate the loss of Gibbs

OUT: Gibbs, Pick 3, Pick 38
IN: Pick 7, Gaff, Pick 12 and Pick 18

DRAFT
Pick 7: Jaidyn Stephenson. Many rate him as the best player of the draft with the most upside, he is mainly percieved as an outside runner, but this isnt the case, his recent form has shown his love for the contest and willingness to win the hardball, regularly getting 30+ disposals and getting forward and kicking goals.

Pick 12: Darcy Fogarty. He was rated as the best player of his draft class 12 months ago, but due to injuries this year he has slipped down many boards (sound familiar?) He is a tall utility who uses his strength to win contested ball and clearances, he has great agility for someone his size and uses his strength to stand up through tackles and win one on ones.

Pick 18: Hunter Clark. Inside mid who is clean with his hands, tackles, has great outside run and carry, and wins contests, he is often seen running in support doing the little things that makes the lives of his team mates easier and the days of his opposition harder.

No offence but stopped reading after the first 2 trades...just not going to happen.

Now that kelly has signed I'd like to see us trade pick 3 for saints' pick 7 and 8,we can swap lower picks to satisfy them.Trade Gibbs for the lever pick to crows(hopefully goes to dees)and their first.Would go to draft with 7,8,10 and 17/18.

Id be happy with that but where is the 17/18 pick coming from

aside from judd and a busted thomas we just seem to be shit at attracting big names currently - hopefully things will improve with increased wins

Back in the old days though ... big names aplenty. Bortolotto, Kourkomeilis, Koutoufides. Vowel city.

Jaksch overdosed on consonants the poor bastard.

You forget that East Perth is the affiliate for the WCE so he has had to be managed with Petrie, Lycett, Giles, Vardy, McInnes, etc.
Has had injuries but stats don't always tell the whole story.
Youtube his highlights and you will see that he converts better than most on our list, including one who I will refrain from mentioning! LOL
Hopefully sheil next year as a FA

Watching Connors talk about Kelly a few weeks ago he was pretty clear he is pretty keen on his clients being premiership players.

Unless a top four team was offering Kelly a huge offer pretty clear to me that he thought there was too much risk involved with leaving GWS given their current position.

Don't really think it's a reflection of Carlton the club right now (unless you want to be critical of the fact we are near the bottom of the ladder still).

Would love to get some players cheap with a lot of upside that aren't getting games at their Club. Players I can think of are:

George Horlin-Smith
James Rose
Tom Nicholls
Harrison Wigg
Scott Lycett
Tom Sheridan
Kade Stewart
Trent McKenzie

Obviously not all of these are gonna work out but they all have a lot of potential and I'm sure some of these players will be great

Can our South Australian brothers, put in there views on Harrison Wigg?
I have been a big fan all year, however only really going off stats and news reports.
Is he just another player who dominates the SANFL, but would not replicate into AFL?
Could he make it under Bolts @ Carlton?

Some guy commented once saying his disposal is not great. I'm sure we could get the best out of him and is perfect replacement in my opinion on Simo.

Not to keen on many of them, don't mind Nicholls as an extra ruck coz we really need another ruck

Could we do

Pick 7+8 for our future first and a 3rd

So we could have 3,7,8,10 if we trade Gibbs
4 top 10 picks
