Not sure if this has been mentioned yet but there are now only 12 players remaining on our list from our wooden spoon year only two years ago before SOS took over.

Murphy, Kreuzer, Cripps, Docherty, Casboult, Jones, Graham, Simpson, Rowe, Byrne, Thomas and Curnow.

SOS has truly gutted this list to its bare foundations in order to create his masterpiece, a remarkable job from the great man.

Great stat, SOS and Bolts saved us when we needed them most

Very pleased with the delistings.

Whitey was a good servant. Provided a touch of muscle during an era when we have been an incredibly weak team. But his time is well and truly up. Boekhorst and Smedts were horrible. Twigs who could not take contact. There are tough twigs, eg Simmo, then there are twigs like our delisted duo and Hartung.

Mullet - well he aint ours yet. And he's definately a deckchair...but i'd take him over what we delisted by a nostril. And i'd take him over Hartung.

Have never understood how anyone saw anything in Boek. I guess it was just the navy jumper. When you're getting delisted in favour of Mullett or Matt Shaw, i guess that is the ultimate pricing point.
Sums up my thoughts on Boeky. Pretty limited player unfortunately.

If a poster makes a personal attack for no reason, then I'm definitely allowed to defend myself. This is what happens in the real world

What was the personal attack? If someone attacks you, report it and let the moderators decide.

Love it.:rainbow:

Last 2-3 years some of the delistings have really shocked me .. but in a good way. I was so used to players who had the odd good game being re-signed to new 2 year deals, I just thought it was standard fare.

I love that we now make the hard calls rather than just giving 'em more time in the hope they show something we haven't seen yet. Sure, it might mean you miss out on a late bloomer or a Jones-freakish turnaround every now and then, but the overall benefit will blow that away.

Wow have we raised the minimum standard expected to stay at this footy club. I love it.

Which rabble? Isn't it a mistake to have to pay out a player?
We have to remember that we're not only paying out that player, but then also having to pay for someone who'll be taking that list spot.

We may well have some money in the bank, but you don't want to be wasting it on player pay-outs.

Thanks for the reply Harks!

What rabble you ask? Well us, of course.

It is a mistake to have to pay out a player, as you said, but wouldn't it be exacerbating the original mistake (of contracting the player in the first place) by keeping them on the list (for the sake of money in the bank) at the expense of fast tracking our list overhaul?

I wouldn't like them to do it often! The salary cap would eventually stop us from doing it regularly anyway. But any DFA who has any chance of playing a role for the Blues would have to be preferred over a player who has been determined by our list management as incapable....IMO.

With 10 or so spots to fill on the list with 5 from the draft could sos do a money ball and bring in a few more delisted players from other clubs still think miles would be handy to have while our young midfielders develop

If you are thinking of Liam Ryan at 73, I have it on pretty good authority he has told non WA clubs of his desire to stay in Perth and is a massive flight risk.
I don't mind the idea of the other subiaco small fwd Liam Baker at P73.

We have 8 spots, plus 2 for cat b rookies, most likely Penrith & McDaid.

Just finished reading Any Given Team by Ray McLean who is the founder of leading teams.

Very interesting read, I recommend giving it a whirl to those who are interested.

How does it relate to list management? Well, the program that Ray outlines makes players accountable for their decisions and it gives them the confidence to provide honest feedback to not only each other, but also their coaches. Every club he has applied his program to has benefited greatly. He has turned ordinary cultures into hard working, trustworthy and honest environments and in so doing, the results on the field become far more positive.

I get the vibe that this is what Bolton has done with the playing group. The players are playing with real belief and accountability. We've said goodbye to sooks like Hendo and Menzel. We've said goodbye to anyone who doesn't want to be part of our future - Touhy, Bryce and we've brought in some hungry kids who haven't got any bad 'old ways' instilled in them and are willing to do what's right by their team mates, coaches and supporters.

We'll bring in a few more talented kids in the next couple of drafts and most likely convince a 'big name' free agent to join us in that time as well.

That's why I'm quite confident that we will be a force to be reckoned with in a couple of years time. Our list is definitely on the right track both in terms of talent and in terms of attitude.

I'm surprised we delisted him. Averaged 20 disposals a game this year and statistically uses it well when he gets it. Is reasonably quick and can kick a long goal.

Just isn't very physical. I don't know why we turfed him because we basically have no.depth next year.
If you grab Morgan, I think you'll be throwing him and Ahern at the problem.

We have 8 spots, plus 2 for cat b rookies, most likely Penrith & McDaid.
The Cat B list actually maxes out at 3, but you can only grab 2 a year from each non-GAA source.

GAA (Irish) picks wind up on the Cat A list after the first one for each year.
