Does anyone know what the story with Alex Silvagni is? He signed a new one year contract extension but the club didnt say if he is still a rookie or has been elevated permanently. The HUN had an article yesterday saying we have 6 draft selections so on this basis he must still be a rookie.

Signed on for another year.
Everyone committed with contracts other than Graham, for now.

No real need to take him off the rookie list any more.
We're also highly unlikely to use 6 selections at the ND.
4 maybe, but not 6, leaving us with the favoured 38/6 split, unless we take on Hartung and then we may go 39/5, or we may not use #72.

Why is 38/6 favoured when I thought rookies now can play?
I’m lost

Just on the talk of Delisted Free Agents;
Do they put a price on their head, or are they simply just happy to get back into the system on a starting contract again?
I know that would be on a horses for courses basis, but just wondering how it may work in practice.
If there is a competitive market then the DFA has choice as to where to further his career. But is limited to the offers he gets, could try and negotiate more but might not get taken ...
If just one club then I guess the DFA does not have a lot of bargaining power.
A long way removed from the pre-Season draft ...

Pass on Hartung.

Neither Yes or No with Hartung, but I think using a 3rd or 4th pick in a trade vs a free hit as a DFA. He is miles ahead of the likes of Buckley and Boekhorst and would easily be better than 90% of the kids added with picks in the 90's. just saying

Anyway, we will find out soon

Just watched the highlights reel of this kid. BOY OH BOY! WOWEEEE!!!! His leap is something else! If a team takes a punt on him and he knuckles down and makes it AFL level he'll provide some truly remarkable passages of play and win mark of the year just about every year. Incredible.

Hartung is a know quantity that is not AFL standard. We’ve had rookie selections that are better players than him, so the draft number is irrelevant.

Hit the draft and pick a rough diamond. An unknown is still better than a known miss.
