GWS will push to keep Kelly. If not, they will try and push him to which ever team finishes lower.

Kelly most likely will go to North, but there is still every chance he takes one look at SOS and repays the favour.

And how would we pay for him ?

You should know that trades for high-profile players are not as simple like one pick for one player, many steak knives would be thrown back and forth.

The problem won't be so much about what we give up anyway (that probably comes in second). It will be whether or not he will choose us since our offer will be significantly smaller compared to others.

It will also test the sort of person and player he is. Will he chase the money and potentially destabilize another club (leave others questioning why they aren't getting payed similar for their talent and hard work), or would he look at culture, direction and plenty of opportunity in a family-like atmosphere?

I'd love to have him, but will be equally happy taking whatever picks to the draft.

Ok
But how would we pay for him ?

We really didn't deserve the wooden spoon this year. We'd have been the greatest bottom team in history. So many games we took it to teams and were in front in the last quarter in heaps of them only to get run down.

That's generally what's supposed to happen when you play a bunch of kids week in week out. BUT the other thing that is supposed to happen when you play a lot of kids is you lose and lose badly from time to time. That hasn't happened. We've had maybe 3-4 bad losses this year; Port, Tuggers and Cats. The rest have all been respectable.

Best wins this year (my ranking)

1 - GWS:
They were the red hot team in the comp and we knocked them off by a point. Unreal performance.

2 - Hawks:
FINALLY we smashed that ridiculous streak. A few notable outs and still got the win.

3 - Bombers:
Was such a scrap in wet conditions. What stood out for me was Willo's debut and how well our young side applied physical pressure all day. Tackle count was HUGE

4 - Swans:
Last year's runner-ups. They weren't in great form but nevertheless it was a game where our young players stood up against quality opposition. ASOS was brilliant

5 - Pies:
SPS showcased his talent and was the play maker in a break out performance.

6 - GC:
Gibbs' best performance in Navy Blue possibly ever.

Are you kidding. That's a good starting point. If it's not enough it's not off by much...if using Dangerfield and Beams as a precedent we'd only have to throw in a fringe player on top of that (Gore & Crisp in those 2 cases).

Did you see Kelly today
Have you seen Kelly all year
Time to get real
If you want precedent try Treloar , and Kelly is STREETS ahead of him .
