Crazy talk isn't it?The calls to trade Weitering are laughable. The intangibles he brings to the backline can't be measured.
First Murphy, now Weitering.
Lets trade Cripps too and be done with it.

His debut was good, and since then he's been pretty average for a contested player. SPS plays more on the outside, and has a contract for next year.
So was Mcartin. What's he worth now?

We have one of the worst midfields in the game yet there are 8 teams with more points scored against than us.
I agree our giant(s) backline is baffling, yet it's somehow effective.
I think people are seriously under rating Hopper. His first season was a lot more impressive then SPS's and I know I wouldn't trade him for anything less then a top two pick
You hit it on the head.Spot on.I don't think our midfield is as bad as some people are saying, our top 4 Murphy Kruz Gibbs and Cripps as a starting midfield, are as good as some of the better starting midfielders going around, it just drops off very sharply for us, we have some good young talent at the club in, SPS Fisher Cuningham and potentially even Charlie, but they will take time and we need to add at least 2-3 more.
If Gibbs goes we need both of them to cover,if he doesn't and we get one of them quite happy with that as well.If we let Gibbs go and gain only Hopper, more short term pain is on the cards next year.
If Gibbs goes, we need to add Kelly and Hopper to be in the green
Bolts was apparently On The Couch tonight. Has anyone seen it?
I'm happy for Harry to continue in the VFL for a while, maybe get a couple of games at the back end of the season. More development and time to build his body and fitness. Fans are so harsh on young key forwards if they don't light it up straight away, we saw that when Weitering played forward, no patience from so many. I've got no problem with him spending time away from the lime light at this stage.Just a point on H.McKay.
Harry was taken 1 pick behind
Weideman, although Harry is yet to debut Sam has only managed a handful of games.
Being nearly a year younger than Sam he is a year behind in development.
The criticism and paranoia regarding him not being in the 1sts is laughable
Definitely. Surely we are fast approaching the time when we stop gifting talented, needed players to opposition teams for a negative return. If we let Gibbs go and gain only Hopper, more short term pain is on the cards next year.

According to SEN Kelly has put off contract talks until the end of the year.
With that in mind aren't we better off using a future first rounder (2018) and keeping one of the 2017 first rounders in this scenario. Simply because (a) we hope the 2018 pick is a later pick and (b) then our earliest pick if required for Ben SOS isn't compounded as much. Does that make sense? From GWS' perspective, its current 2017 first has 1,000 points deducted from it (so somewhere deep in the draft order). Two 2017 firsts looks very attractive, but lose Kelly and Hopper.
From our perspective, we lose Gibbs, Casboult and our 2017 first round pick, get Kelly and Hopper.
We go to the draft next year and hopefully we don't have to match the bid for Ben SOS before we use our first draft pick.

cough contract coughIf he still wants to go home it will be a 1st rounder and loose change.
No just Murphy!Crazy talk isn't it?

By and large it was a nothing interview..........Watched him, nothing new said, towed the party line. Nothing interesting to report.
I don't understand how anyone is confident of getting Kelly. Sure we may have more assets to trade than North but I doubt we are willing to offer him 9 million over 9 years so surely they are in the box seat.According to SEN Kelly has put off contract talks until the end of the year.

I get your point, just feels like hope more than anything. Would take him over nearly anyone in the comp with the exception of probably Cameron, Bont or (Close your eyes) Daniher.Money in the short term isn't everything. There's also:
- Bolton's vision
- upward trajectory of playing list
- mates already at the club
- Corporate supporters to look after you post-football
