I feel it to be a serious comment.

McKay is a still somewhat of an unknown, but one we clearly have faith in.
Ben will need several years of development before he come into 'serious' play and Charlie? He may well prove to be better and more damaging around the ground.

It may seem like we've gone for a slow-slow build, but I don't think that's going to be the case, when we may have most of the puzzle pieces in place.
If we are after a serious ready-to-go forward then we aim for Lynch.
My thoughts as well, ben, McKay and Kerr are all unproven at afl level like all I am hoping they all turn into superstars but if Rayner is off the table by our pick I would have no issues to take Brander

I think that if things fall in our favour in the off season and the growth of our youth continues we should be a realistic chance to finish 8th - 12th next season

2019 we could be 6th-10th and

2020 4th - 8th

Takes in to account growth, recruiting and a good injury run

If we get Kelly this off season, keep our 2018 1st and acquire Hawthorn's 2018 1st then get Shiel as a free agent end of 2019 we will finish 1st in 2020.

Are we really calling out Kerr as something special?
He may develop into a nice third tall, but on my viewing, he hasn't got the big guns to develop into a serious, primary forward.

If there isn't space in front of him, he may find things very tough.
He hasn't the leap, the power off the mark, nor has he developed particularly great leading patterns yet (although being a forward in the VFL......you know)
His leading patterns are far better than McKay's

I've been triple-barreled. :)

I've said plenty of good thing about Kerr this year.
I just thinks he's somewhat limited, but that's not to say he won't/can't make it.

I don't agree.

The competition is more even now than ever before, and I expect that to be the case next year also.

I think I'm fairly realistic when assessing where we're at, and I can honestly say there aren't many games remaining this year in which I don't give us a genuine chance of taking the 4 points.

We're becoming a pretty difficult team to play against and we're only going to improve on the back of another preseason into this group + another draft and trade period.

As Blue__Balls said above - we're not a lock by any stretch of the imagination, but I give us a very good chance of pushing into the 8 as soon as next season.

I think it's important to point out that with a close ladder and competition that we could challenge for finals next year and still finish 11th-13th.

From Dandenong Stingrays/Vic Country

The tough, composed and hard-working midfielder started his carnival in brilliant fashion, steering Vic Country to a win over the Allies with 34 disposals and 10 marks in a dominant display. He didn't quite have the same impact thereafter, but recruiters are well aware of his talents. Davies-Uniacke is the right size for a modern midfielder, he's competitive, good by foot and has a turn of speed, evident in his breakaway goal from a centre clearance against Vic Metro in round three of the carnival. Davies-Uniacke is a prospect you can see playing plenty of games at AFL level next year.

Midfielder, Ht 186cm, Wt 85kg, DOB 7/10/1999

Cerra didn't blitz at the carnival but is a midfielder you can depend on. He's classy by foot, keeps running all day, makes space for others with his hands and never appears rushed into his decisions. He had 24 disposals against Western Australia in Metro's round one win and 17 touches, seven tackles and seven clearances in their title-sealing win over South Australia at Etihad Stadium. A knee injury limited Cerra last season but he has pieced together a year of consistent showings in 2017 that makes him one of the leading midfielders up for grabs.
I was really surprised to see L. Fogerty slipping all the way down to 22 in that list.

There is no way that we would ever get Rayner unless he did something seriously stupid just before the draft. I would be happy with either LDU or Darcy Fogerty at this point.

And it seems that Worpel has disappeared off the radar of everyone.

So funny. Last year everyone was telling me we "simply cant trade next years first because we need to draft worpel" classic. Its already starting about next year.

I don't see why we can't push for finals as early as next year.
Agreed if Gibbs ends up committing to us and jones kreuzer and Casboult stay and we can somehow can manage to get kelly and hopper then i definitely think we can play finals next yr
Especially with another pre season under all our kids belts and natural progression of our game plan

This has prob been asked before but If Gibbs goes and we do not land kelly or Hooper, where does that leave us? Our midfield next season will be cringe worthy

It would be the same as if he got injured at training tomorrow. Yes it would suck but we also would have most likely used two more first rounders on midfielders so we would just have to watch them develop. Also I imagine we also be looking forward to the next season with another two first rounders and about $3mil in salary cap room.
I'm really not worried about taking a step backwards if it means we take take two forwards in the future

Can't see us releasing Gibbs unless we have a ready made gun midfielder (ie Kelly) to fill the void.

I think you are right...just needed reassuring :)

Imagine if Gibbs goes and we got donuts in return. That would be a disaster. We'd be lucky to win 3-4 games next year.
