* Gibbs -Ade
* Ade - lever/Mcgovern pick + 2nd - Carl
* Carl - lever/Mcgovern pick + 2018
1st to Giants for Kelly
* Carl - Murphy to Saints for 1st + ?
* Casboult compo to suns for Saad
* Redpath for 4th rounder
* Balic for later pick
* go to the draft with pick 1-3 Rayner
Saints first 6-7 Higgins
Net loss Gibbs,Murphy,Casboult 2018 1st
Net gain Kelly, Saad,Rayner, Higgins, Redpath,Balic

Murphy wouldn't wanna go to the Saints after the incident with Carlisle earlier in the year.

No. I get the impression they're happy to have development from the trio of young forwards we already have.

The point is they weren't gifted a PP. They traded what another team were valuable assets for it.

It'd be like saying that if Brisbane got a PP ahead of their own first round pick this year and we traded Murphy for it that we were given a PP.
I hear you, but I just said Hawks used PP's as part of their rebuild. I also think Freo was more open to the trade as it was only a PP. It is amazing how many first rounders Hawks used.

What are peoples thoughts on how Adelaides handling of Jake Levers contract offer will effect any possible targeting of Gibbs?

By all reports their first offer to Lever was a joke. Are they seriously that tight with the cap? If they load up trying to keep these two then their hands will be tied come time to go after Gibbs.

I know that getting another wooden spoon, is added to our history forever, but the benefits are endless if all of Kelly, Hopper and Smith nominate us as a destination

If we traded Gibbs for a mid round 1st and 2nd, I could argue a case for getting all those players without giving up that 1st pick

Decent chance we get an end of first round PP this year too...which would then be higher.

I think they're somewhat genuine in re-contracting Lever. I think they're using a somewhat common contracting tactic. You ridiculously low ball a guy at first. Then the second offer isn't quite near where he wanted but closer to the mark and shows the person you're committed.

Hopefully never offer it. Redpath isn't worth anywhere near that pick downgrade, for example.

Redpath strikes me as a DFA or bust type player. In and out of the Dogs side. 27 years of age next year so outside of our long term age bracket. He doesn't fill a mandatory need (even without Casboult we have Curnow, Silvagni and McKay to play as tall forwards). He's just not someone I'd give up very much for nor should we.

True, but pensioning off our ageing stars to St Kilda is part of our DNA!

Thats my point exactly.

People are saying they would rather not ask for a pp and that asking makes us look like a basket case.

Yeah, no (excrement) Sherlock. We have been for almost 2 decades.

Azul - the above wasnt aimed at you. Just people who dont agree with us. [emoji6]

A priority pick doesn't fix you from being Crap
We've had a few

But I'm curious to know what anybody says to the AFL when applying

," Please give us a priority pick because we've run the club into the ground for the best part of two decades"

We've had more priority picks than any other club I think
Hawks have just bounced on their down year and turned over a heap of players
Priority picks can't be the answer.. It's not only about your list

How about this:

"Previous administrations have run the football department and playing list into the ground.

We have identified this and have new administration (LoGo), new recruiting department (SOS) and new coach (Bolts) in place.

Over the last 18 months we have made positive strides but we are coming from long way back. This is can be inferred from our win loss ratio and the fact that an injury has made us uncompetitive during the second half of the last two seasons (2016-Murphy & 2017-Cripps).

We are moving in the right direction slowly but we need some help.

An extra pick would help make Carlton a force faster. Which would in turn be good for afl revenue as we are still one of the best drawing clubs even though we have been cellar dwellers and havent been close to success for years."

Why is everyone putting up the most outlandish scenarios? The reality is Gibbs will stay, murphy will stay and we will take our picks to the draft, Cas may leave in which case we will get 2nd round at best and more likely 3rd round.. We may get Kelly but he will not be cheap and considering we're no longer going the messiah route I think we will tackle the draft with the the early pick and stick to the path we have sold to members and supporters. I know boring right, but closer to the truth than most of the other bullshit I'm seeing on here.

could we if we ever are going to trade Murphy I would say trade him to Brisbane a win win situation if you ask me we gain a high draft pick or picks and they get Murphy I only say Brisbane because of his dad playing at Fitzroy

He had his chance to play for Brisbane and he turned them down.

A player has to want to play for a team before we can trade him to a team.

If Murphy is to be traded it'd be, similarly to Gibbs, to a team that has a shot at a premiership. It makes no sense for Marc to go to a club in a similar position as to what we are.

  • Adelaide -- we wont give them both Gibbs AND Murphy
  • Geelong -- Would make some sense as they've been a good and fair trading partner of late but they likely are cap tight
  • GWS -- are likely cap tight to add Murphy if they can't re-sign their young gun mids
  • Richmond -- will need a midfielder if Dusty departs via FA and will have the cap space for it
  • Port Adelaide -- likely to target Tom Rockliff instead of Marc.
  • Sydney -- Are planning to make a run at Martin. May have the room
  • Melbourne -- Have demonstrated a willingness to attempt to fast track getting their window open
  • West Coast -- I don't see Murphy being the likely type to move across country for a move
  • Western Bulldogs -- midfield isn't their primary area of weakness
  • Essendon -- I can't imagine Murphy in a Bombers guernsey. Shades of Scott Camporeale type wrong.
  • Hawthorn -- Marc doesn't fit the age profile of the players they're targeting to fast track their rebuild
Most likely potential new homes for Marc would be Richmond, Sydney, and Melbourne.

It's the same admin
You do realise we're going to have to ask for money don't you.?
Money
Picks
Under sponsored
Poor membership
Coaches still at the club developing over seven years because they're cheap..
And blame previous administration's who the current board voted in or employed?

The problem at Carlton is not one pick
To pretend that's a priority to go forward is a massive mistake!
Your lured in to a fake and dangerous sense of security

Roll up the sleeves

Band 1 compensation is the top 5%.
Band 2 compensation is the top 15%
Band 3 compensation is the top 25%
Band 4 compensation is the top 45%

Four years at 500,000 PA should put him in band 3.
As I understand it, a player is restricted if he is in the top 10 players at his current club by salary. Otherwise, he is unrestricted.
The Bands' compensation is linked to what the new club offers.

I think you will find the "reality" is that Gibbs will most likely leave mate.

This has been the mail all year. From reliable posters.
