If its Kelly, Hopper and Whitfield for
2017-2018 1st and Casboult compo its and no brainer for me would do in a heartbeat
Whos to say the 1st rounders we would pick wouldn't be another Massie,Vance, livingstone
Watson , Boekhorst list goes on

That's better
But that's not what the rumour was
It was Hopper OR Whitfield

When was the last time pick 1 in the draft was traded?
Was it the Luke Hodge year?

Pick 1 in the draft is a massive trading chip, teams are extremely reluctant to trade it away. If those players agreed to come to us and GWS don't appreciate the value of pick one, let's trade it for 2 pretty good first round picks. Here you go GWS, here's 2 first round picks for Kelly (we don't even want a second rounder back because we are awesome) and pick 19 for Hopper.

We need to back ourselves at the draft if we're going to go anywhere. Besides, the first rounders could be the next Dangerfield and Franklin if we're playing that game.

IF we somehow get pick 18 compo for Casboult, and that gets Hopper done... would you trade pick 1-2 this year and possibly pick 1-2 next year for Kelly alone?

Hopper worth much more than 18 alone.

That said, could have hopper and griffen for 18...maybe.

That salary is important

Where would you play him, forward or back?
Although he is handy in defence our greatest need would suggest up forward. Has a good set of hands, nice kick, both at goal and to inside 50 options. He would be a great pick up.
It's becoming more and more evident that coaches are into players with positional flexibility at the moment. He does have a bit of sh1t about him too so the odd run on the ball isn't out of the question. (Seriously! Think Greenwood from Adelaide).

To be fair they've gone in Norm Smith winning order. Shannon Grant presented it last year to JJ as he won it in '99. Hird won it in 2000.
To be fair, the presentation of the Norm Smith medal in order was only a very recent occurrence and from where I sit it seems to be the AFL's plan to bring back Hird.

It is much too early to bring back Hird. He was the principal driver of the drugs policy and he has not been out in the cold for long enough.

Overs for me.

Kelly and Hopper are both out of contract.

Kelly is not worth 2 x early 1st rounders. He's very good but hes not Judd good to deserve that sort of compensation.
Hopper is worth a mid-late 1st rounder.

I'd say Kelly + Hopper for 2017 1st, 2018 2nd + Casboult compo.

I would do the deal for all 3 though, but cant see GWS letting go of 3 midfielders in one trade period especially seeing how close they are to a premiership.

No club can afford to 'float' around the bottom of the table for too long and certainly not us.
MLG knows this, Trigg knows this and if SOS didn't know early on, he'd know it by now.

Some supporters may say they can wait, but why wait and see when we should be doing something....for memberships, sponsorships, supporters etc.
If we finish bottom 3 for the next 3 years im out [emoji35]

Another article in the copy of Inside Football that I picked up in Melbourne was "Dominant Duo Set For Draft" by Chris Pike writing about the WAFL.

He then named Tim Kelly & Haiden Schloithe from South Fremantle as 'prime examples of the potential advantages of raising the draft age'. Sloithe is 23yo and is averaging 30.7 disposals per game whilst Kelly is at 28.2, both are strong chances in the Sandover too.

I'm sure there are better judges at our club to know if they are worth bringing onto the playing list but based on the raw figures, they seem like they are well suited.

I'm hoping Sloithe is no "sloth"....
