I swore at the end of last season that his days are done and he'll never be SC relevent again but I keep ending up with him in my team every second iteration...

I already have Fyfe/Rocky in my starting line up so it will be pretty hard to justify starting all 3 given recent injury histories.

*if it turns out you must field 22 in R9*

If Ablett averages:
125: 125 R1-8, 70 R9 (rookie on field) = 118.8

120: 120 R1-8, 70 R9 (rookie) = 114.4

115: 115 R1-8, 70 R9 (rookie) = 110

Given injury risk, the above is making me lean towards bringing in Gaz after his R9 bye. Won't cost you as many points if he explodes given you'll have an extra premo R9 over those that do have him.

Although, it's worth considering if he does average 125 he will be closer to 700k by R9.

I'm not starting either of those but yeh, there's a lot of risk/reward players in the MID this season and I only feel comfortable starting with 2 at this stage so Gaz will have to prove it all in the pre-season before I finally settle on him.

Yeah true, my thinking was that a Premo with a R11/12/13 bye will be easier to cover with a premo, given only top 18 scores will count. R9 premos will be covered by rookies.

Agree and understand your thinking.
Am hoping that:
1. Rookies selected are solid enough to cover 70% of players with rd 9 bye potential score.
2. By starting with 6 premo mids will aready be ahead of teams who start with 5.
3. This may be addressed further with upgrades by rd 9, meaning still 6 premo mid rd 9 and 7 in rd 10.
4. By starting rd 9 bye players means less to bring in giving an advantage in rd 11-13 as they wont need to covered then
5. This will hopefully balance out any loss of points in rd 9.

Still havent decided if this is the right course to take but taking a serious look at it to see what or if an advantage can be gained in using this strategy.

He's pretty far down the pecking order. He'd have to have one hell of a pre-season or play extremely well in the reserves to be promoted and play seniors.

Needs to be upgraded first, doesn't he? Not sure, personally, there are a number of blokes who could all get a look-in / could be in and out of the team while they look for the right mix.
Being mature age and having reported back in decent nick didn't hurt.

Did you see the article on the AFL site. Fagan is loving him up discussing captaincy saying he has been very, very good. Pre season standout floating around in it as well.

Never left my side. He might break down but his floor is around 110 ppg (if he isn't carrying an injury) which is close to the ceiling for many of his competitors.

Rocky or GAJ.
Both have burnt so much over the last few years but both can go 120+

Rocky is cheap but so is Beams.
I think you can only go for one of them not both and ATM Beams allows me an extra premo defender.
