Evans was the Chairman, not CEO, and fell on his sword because he and Dimwit had decided Hird had to step down. James disagreed and it became untenable for Evans to stay. That's when Little stepped in and chose to go down the litigious route. Ian Robson was the CEO. He was the first to accept full accountability for what happened under his watch and resigned.

The stat in itself is irrelevant. It's a signal of intent because it shows the sides willingness and ability to keep the ball moving forward.

And we lost 50m per game across the board between 2014 and 2015, so it's not like I'm saying we need to do something we haven't done before. Ebert and Krakouer dropped close to 100m gained this year alone. It's two extra kicks per game, and we were near the bottom for kicks last year.

The following players for Adelaide improved by 40m or more from 2015 to 2016. Some improved by close to 100m:

Laird
Smith
M Crouch
Talia
Cameron
Lever
Atkins
Mackay
Brown
Hartigan

It shouldn't be surprising that most of the improvement came from your back six, because that's where you launched most attacks from.

So you're telling us that teams who get the ball closer to their opponent's goals win more games? That's genius!

I'm not being flippant. TO me it is the ultimate act of selfishness. When you see the aftermath suicide brings to those left behind, there is no way anyone could believe they chose this path for the good of everyone else. The guilt felt by loved ones is immeasurable and everlasting. There is no respite for them, ever. James has four little children. Can you imagine the impact on them if he'd succeeded? Hird needs help. He has for a very long time. I hope now he can acknowledge that and work towards recovery.

Wow, so the implication is that depression is just selfishness. That's an amazing insight, better let lifeline and beyond blue know that all they need to treat is selfishness. Let me guess, you're completely on board with the principle of depression and the need for community understanding, but once a person chooses to end their life, then they are fully cognitive but selfish. But you're in their corner all the way up to that critical moment when their illness takes its greatest toll.

Janus can have his extra 50m per player per game, I say we go for an extra goal per player per game. If we can kick an extra 22 goals a game we will be unbeatable, all we need is an extra 1 goal from each player, each game. Easy.

One about the Essendon saga from the start is Hird copped a lot of the blame and yes he deserved some, But not one Essendon official, player or key persons stood up and took responsibility for their own actions, Everyone of them had to drag screaming into any form of punishment.
So Hird was not a stand out in that area.

They walk away but not one took any responsibility for their part in what happen. That's was the problem they all did not believe that they did wrong, and some still think that way today.

I don't have a heat map but it would be as simple as having guys like Talia, Lever, Cheney etc. spending a bit of time up forward at the end of each quarter to ensure we get them on the goal kickers list each week. Unbeatable.

If you start at the beginning I was saying no one accepted responsibility or believe what they did was wrong, which why the saga lasted so long.
Punishment is secondary. Resigning has more to do with leaving a sinking ship.

Think your view of the events history is incorrect ......the dragging out of the scandal was purely Little and Hird .....full stop!!

I've heard that Hird wants nothing to do with public life at all ......again strange, given he was highly touted to be part of the new radio SEN 1116 breakfast team with Garry Lyon ?? .....which is it? public life or no public life?

IMO i am speculating that getting the radio gig may have been his way of a) having employment & b) getting back into the footy fraternity ......he may have been given some commitments from the radio station, that they've reneged on .....but it appears this rejection may have had a big impact on his state of mind ?

Including Bomber Thompson who imo is nothing more than a denying joke of a man. He has tried to just shrug it all off saying "it wasn't me". He was the coach of Geelong whose records have been lost as well. I don't like or trust any of them.

I think it has just finally dawned on him the enormity of it all. Up till now he's been so busy fighting it he probably now has time to think WTF did I do?

It's hard to draw conclusions from afar in situations like this - hard because you don't really know, and hard because you don't want to make assumptons and cast aspersions on people you don't know, when all you've got to go on is the media. And the vibe. But I have to say, it seems to me:

1. Yes, James had Golden Child syndrome. Could do no wrong, had never been held to account for a mistake, sheltered and spoiled.
2. This was exacerbated - IMO, and from afar - by a wife who was not only overly protective but a lawyer to boot. And possibly domineering. So she would have been driving a lot of the "don't admit anything, drag them through the courts" and James, having no experience in this sort of thing, and no understanding of what it's like to be anything other than a Golden Child, went along with her.

So I reckon Tanya's got a lot to answer for.

With all of that it's no wonder their marriage failed, because of either or both (a) Tanya's bailed on a guy with a lot less money and prospects than he had, and/or (b) James grew a pair and started pushing back, possibly even having a sharp word or two about all that terrible advice she had given him.

It's not like me to gossip about the private lives of public figures but I can't help thinking (and writing) the above.

Winner winner chicken dinner his entire life. When the shitstorm came visiting he believed he would win again. Getting caught simply couldn't happen to this golden boy. Yeah, well, real life catches up eventually.

I agree it's a little like driving passed a car crash you really don't want to look - mind you when it is all going peachy for these guys and they are living the life with celebrity status and the perks and coin that go with it they grab it with both hands, unfortunately sometimes decisions change the path - I do feel for Hird and how things have ended up however, if my young lad was playing for Essendon at the time and Hird "allowed" him to be injected by god knows what I would turn into physco dad, and would feel nothing but hate for the guy. Added to his downfall and pressure due to this were rumours early last year of some infidelity hopefully these were just bunkum, and his marriage and his health can make a recovery.

If I were an FBI profiler, I might have suspicions that Hird is does not fit the character profile of a man who would a) Take his own life, and/or b) Not succeed in such an endeavour if attempted with real purpose.
I might think to myself that he would fit the profile of a person capable of calculating the desired outcome of a failed attempt however.

Luckily enough I'm not an FBI profiler so I'll just wish James good health, a speedy recovery and for him to find some peace within himself.
