He's right. The loss of Enright means Geelongs defense is greatly weakened so can't be in the 8

But yeah, put Port and Collingwood in there ...
I think Geelong will dip but not crash out of the 8.

This year is going to be a ripper I reckon with a heap of teams giving themselves a chance of making it. I think you can rule out:

Brisbane
Carlton
Gold Coast
North

So if things go wrong for some top 8 sides, there will be clamour to see who gets in.

I can see North coming out, possibly West Coast if Nic Nat is out for most of the year. The Hawks could drop out if O'Meara is injured.
If we cop injuries to a key midfielder or 2, we would be in strife. Obvioulsy I hope I'm wrong on the last point.

I can see Dogs getting a hangover. GC can actually surprise some teams. Saints could push top 4 if Riewoldt can squeeze another top shelf season out. GWS might fold under pressure of being top dogs.

Only constant is Sydney will be top 4.
Dogs will be the Leicester ( who are in danger of being relegated)of the AFL I reckon.
Teams will work them out this year as all last year they were under the radar and underestimated because of injuries.

I have had Sydney dropping every year for the last 6 so I'm going the "George Costanza Rule of Opposite" - and picking them for the flag!

Can't see any players that have stood out for a year making anything other than a short term impact so counts out an Essendon miracle resurgence and a Ryder led premiership.

As long as Jake Neade is getting picked Port are the last team I'm worrying about.

And now they're talking about moving their best defender in Taylor into the forward line ......will Geelong have any quality experience in their defense?
They're presuming their only 2 decent players will never let the ball go back past centre

Janus top 8 2017
GWS Syd Crows Port WB Pies Hawks Essendon.
Hard to predict, but WC are way ahead of Essendon, Collingwood and Port even without Nic Nat.

IMO Port (like about 12-14) teams could make the 8 if things go right. The difference teams like Port, Collingwood Saints (to a lesser extent) and Melbourne need a lot to go right. But one preseason can make a big difference (i.e crows 2012-2013 and Freo 2015-2016).

have to say I think you're definitely not wrong, best we could do is hope we don't cop the injuries...

They burnt me last year. I had picked them top 4. Still bitter. Midfield is elite though.
Sorry, how in the hell did you pick them for top 4 ?? Remember Buckley is coach. I had a significant amount of money on them to miss the 8 and it paid out in full half way through the season !! I don't really see them improving this year either myself.

Who plays key forward during the 5+ games Dixon wont play.

Yes they can have Trengove Ruck and Ryder up forward. But that is essentially the same set up they had this year. Ryder is not that great a foward either. Neither is Trengove.

Their other options are Eddy, Clurey or Westhoff as a key forward.
