Not if they trade a future 3rd. i.e. Lever to Collingwood for 2017 1st Round Pick (pick 6), and 2018 1st Round Pick.

He's good but he's not Brownlow Dangerfield good - and we couldn't get two firsts for him.

I know Geelong said they might have done that if we'd pushed them - so let's assume Danger, on the brink of a Brownlow, was worth that.

I still hold hope Lever stays. However, if he leaves I thibk we should avoid any 2018 first round pick as a payment. I understand its a stronger draft and the depth is deeper but the pick still remains unknown.

Lever will make Melbourne a much more competitive and competent defensive unit and this will lead to them going higher up the ladder.

If we do get a 2018 first round pick, we should demand they get a pick from Gold Coast, Carlton, Brisbane or Fremantle. That was we can be sure that pick sit somewhere between 5 and 10. Not between 12 and 18 and then with academy picks added, between 15 and 20.

So 2018 is a good and deep draft and you could get a pick in the 8-16 range on top of pick 10 this year and you say no? I mean I'd prefer Collingwoods 1sts for this and next year but for an out of contract 3rd defender that's still a good deal, IMO.

So you would be happy with pick 10, that could balloon out to 13 or 14 with academy picks and pick 15 thst could balloon out to 18 or 19?

I want something concrete that we know we have. I don't like the uncertainty of that pick.

I wonder if hathorne still do that trade with St Kilda if they know it ends up being a pick 6?
